Birds of a feather...Trump hates the EU more than he hates Putin. They are trying to end civilisation. Putin is just a psychotic, mass murdering kleptocrat.

That's not fair. He's not doing it for himself. He's a good servant. Of Putin. He doesn't care as long as he gets a cut
Well, he's not entirely wrong there is he?Speaking of Putin ...
I want the ordinary citizens of Western countries to hear me. You are being persistently told that all your current difficulties are the result of hostile actions by vicious Russia, and that you must pay for the fight against a mythical Russian threat out of your own pockets. All of this is a lie. The truth is that the problems you are facing now are the result of years of actions by the ruling elites of your own countries—their mistakes, short-sightedness, and ambition. They do not think about how to improve your lives; they are obsessed with their own selfish interests and excessive profits - President Putin
Well, he's not entirely wrong there is he?
Who's "we"? @Guybrush Threepwood sees it Putin's way, at least a little bit. He's partly right, about the vicious Russia bit. People here think the Russians are a threat. The sort of place that invades its neighbours, commits war crimes, treats its own soldiers like an infinite supply of expendable garbage, sends assassins into our countries with horrible poisons, that sort of vicious thing.
Where he's wrong is that people here think most of their current difficulties are other stuff that's nothing to do with his disastrous invasion of Ukraine. He's completely off target thinking Europeans feel personally burdened by paying for contributions to the defence of Ukraine. Maybe in some places like Poland they are, but there it's probably entirely overshadowed by the sense of direct threat to Poland from vicious Russia. Likewise the Baltic states.
No, he's going to find that line has no traction at all.
I wonder if he really thinks "If only I could talk to the ordinary people, they'd see it my way". No, you mad ◊◊◊◊. We don't.
Maybe I should clarify. I didn't watch the video, my response was to the text saying that our problems are caused by our own political elite, which I think is true. He's partly right, about the vicious Russia bit. As do you.Who's "we"? @Guybrush Threepwood sees it Putin's way, at least a little bit.
Putin is telling you that you shouldn't be opposing Moscow in Ukraine. That you should be opposing your government's support for Ukraine.Maybe I should clarify. I didn't watch the video, my response was to the text saying that our problems are caused by our own political elite, which I think is true.
No. I absolutely do not. Putin, his fifth column, and his useful idiots, can all die painfully in a slow cooker as far as I am concerned. I do not see it his way at all. Don't try to rope me into your Moscow apologetics. As do you.
I watched the video now, and it turns out there is no additional context. Putin is telling us that the problems of the west are not caused by Russia, but by our own political elite, which is true.Putin is telling you that you shouldn't be opposing Moscow in Ukraine. That you should be opposing your government's support for Ukraine.
That's a hell of a context in which to say Putin has a point. Maybe consider carrying less water for Moscow?
Putin: "You are being persistently told that all your current difficulties are the result of hostile actions by vicious Russia". I won't say "no one", but I have heard no one in any position of power in any democracy make that statement.I watched the video now, and it turns out there is no additional context. Putin is telling us that the problems of the west are not caused by Russia, but by our own political elite, which is true.
We should still support Ukraine far more than we do, and put Russia back in it's box. Why this means we can never acknowledge when he says something true is a mystery to me.
Not at all. Trump is more to blame.Well, he's not entirely wrong there is he?
Personally, I'm inclined to say that in the text, Putin's doing a bunch of classic mixing of truth and lies. For example, most of the problems that we face are indeed largely attributable to more local rich and powerful bad actors. He's quite right about that. With that said, he naturally neglects to acknowledge how he and Russia have been both pushing them and aiding them to make those "mistakes, short-sightedness, and ambition" that harm their countries. Russia may not necessarily be the immediate wrongdoers in most countries, but they've been supporting the wrongdoers quite a lot.

On November 20, russian general Sergey Kuzovlev reports to a russian führer, Putin, that Kupiansk is completely under russian control.
On December 9, Putin awards Kuzovlev for “capturing” Kupiansk.
On December 12, President Zelensky sends greetings to Ukrainian soldiers from Kupiansk.
Sometimes, it feels like russians live in an alternative reality
Speaking of Putin ...

Its front page of https://kyivindependent.com/Not sure now, I'm not seeing it reported anywhere else.
In a way, Putain is right, the western political elite's pandering of Yeltsin and himself have lead us to this.Speaking of Putin ...

Ukraine is a country of approximately 35,000,000 people. Ruzzia doesn'thave the military capability to occupy it.My latest thought is even if Putin did win the war and effectively gain control over Ukraine, he'll end up inheriting several million very angry Ukrainians, both within the country and out. It won't be as bad as trying to hold Afghanistan, but it won't be a cakewalk either.
They've done it before. They will do their best to keep the population at a manageable level.
