Cont: The Russian invasion of Ukraine part 6

I see the head of Ukraine's military intelligence has given the BBC an interview and says the campaign is stalemate with neither side currently having the capacity to launch anything significant. So I assume that's misdirection and the Ukrainians have something up their sleeve.

Belarus getting in on the act on Russia's behalf claiming that a Ukrainian air defence missile has landed in their territory:

Belarus has summoned the Ukrainian ambassador, saying it had shot down a Ukrainian air defence missile in Belarusian territory.

It happened during one of Russia's heaviest aerial onslaughts against Ukraine so far.

Footage from Belarusian state television appeared to show missile debris in a field.

There has been speculation that Russia intends to launch another strike on Kyiv from Belarus in the near future and if that is the case, they want/need Belarus to commit forces to the attack. This could be the casus belli Lukashenko has been looking for to justify throwing Belarus' hat into the ring.

Then again, it could all amount to nothing.

I think it's more a case of:

Russia: Get in there or I'm coming for you guys next!
Belarus: *sarcastic* Oooh, I'm scared. *points at Ukraine* Heyyyyyy you guys stop that okay?

If anyone is interested in the History of the Ostfront, and why these current players hate each other so much, i suggest listening to Ghosts of the Ostfront by Dan Carlin.

Here is a sample showcasing the Soviet chain of command, and it seems familiar to the current Russian system.

Lukashenko isn't looking for an excuse to attack Ukraine. He's looking for excuses not to attack Ukraine.

Because I am sure he has already been told by the EU and the USA if he attacks Ukraine, the same sanctions that have been slapped on Russia will be slapped on Belarus, and Belarus is in much worse shape to handle them. Of course luksahenko rule is being upheld by Russian bayonets, so he is in one hell of a bad situation.

More a case of the the only reason Lushensko is in power after losing an election is Russia sent in Troops to use against his own people. Putin owns his ass.

Yeah, those Ukranian drones sound to me as beleivable as the dead poles who attacked the German radio statiion in 1939, or that blown up train track in Manchuria in 1931.

Yup

Belarus is a client of Russia at the moment.

Also this.

Not that it's worth anything anyway. There is a lot of unrest in Belarus.

Demented speech from Putin today more combative then ever.
I really think the guy is deranged, and we had better face that reality.

So, by my math Russia lost about 18,400 men in December. That's 600 a day or the rough equivalent of a battalion. How many guys can Russia send to their needless death before their people rise up? Guess we'll see.

To Putin and his ilk that is just a statistic, not people. Russia has a population of about 145 million so they see nothing to worry about yet.

Russia is suffering from a demographic problem.

And dictators are often seemingly firmly in power until they're deposed.
