I doubt the "uncovered" tale, personally. Especially given the timing, it was far more likely to be 1) a case where they no longer believed that they could get away with hiding them, 2) a manufactured excuse to delay thing more, for example, if they copy/pasted a bunch of existing files (repeatedly) and they claimed that they hadn't reviewed those particular files, or 3) the chaos and incompetence that they manufactured for no actually good reason led to massive failures in basic record keeping. Either way, that uncovered story is thoroughly unbelievable in any form that would exonerate them.

I don't think they have a clue. They're behind him. But they don't actually know why other than his racism. They don't actually think about policies and ramifications. It's a cult not a political party.

Yep, and when he suspends elections (I suspect just before the midterms, which by any polling would be a bloodbath for the GOP) claiming it is a matter of national security, and all his sycophants in office parrot his lies, they will happily support him.

On r/conservative quite a few people were criticizing the Venezuela adventure. Mildly, for the most part, but not all are on board with this degree of interventionism.

Joe Rogan has been banging on about this. He says that since the Census counts all people and not just all citizens, and since Congressional seats are allocated based on Census data, illegal immigration is a plot by Democrats to stuff blue states with noncitizens so that they get more seats in Congress, take over the country, and destroy democracy.

Do you recognise this? This is the racist Great Replacement conspiracy theory, a favourite of white supremacists.

The lie here is that is, yes, though the Census does count all people and not just citizens, it does differentiate between citizens and noncitizens for the purpose of Congressional allocations. Joe is wrong and is spreading lies among the Rightiverse, as usual.

The Wikipedia article above lists proponents of the Great Replacement conspiracy theory, including Elon Musk (who articulated it very clearly on Joe's show recently), Charlie Kirk, Tucker Carlson, Matt Gaetz, and Laura Ingraham, among others.

Yes, it is normal for any purpose other than blood-clot prevention. Docs used to tell people to take a "baby aspirin" (81 mg) for clot prevention and after a while it was just called low-dose aspirin.

It's not considered a sufficient dose for fighting pain, inflammation and fever in adults - 2 aspirin containing 750 mg is the standard dose.

Sorry for the pedantry, I was looking for the beginning of the Venezuela comments. After reading those I went back to see what distractions Trump had been manufacturing before, like the kerfuffle over aspirin consumption. One adult aspirin probably won't hurt him, it is just surplus to requirements.

His own argument is that it makes him more prone to bleeding, hence the visible bruising. I don't know if it puts him more at risk for brain bleeds.

I did not know that. When conservative forums permit I will correct errors of fact, whether to anyone's benefit I don't know, but they let my posts stay up.

Okay, thanks. It sounded high to me.

The other thing you're saying is that other people taking the standard dose should be exhibiting bruising similar to or worse than Trump is showing. I think that's pretty unlikely. I still think it's from a cannula.

A friend on Facebook has suggested that Trump's strategy is aimed at controlling the trade routes for Russia and China, hence the activity around the Panama canal (Panama, Venezuela) and the Suez canal (Somalia,Gaza), and Greenland for the northern possible alternative.

Marco Rubio, standing behind Trump at yesterday morning's news conference, looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Inasmuch as that is his usual look, I probably ought not to read too much into it.

But when Rubio got his moment at the microphone, he did his darndest to walk back what Trump had said about we did this for oil and Venezuela will be run by the people standing behind me. What's worse than being named dictator of Venezuela by your US President on national television? Hearing Pete Hegseth named as your co-dictator.

No wonder Rubio was so eager to say this was just a routine criminal arrest, nothing to see here.

Its amazing how law enforcement works in the US.

If US citizens commit crimes in other countries they are of course completely protected and the US would never extradite them.
But if non US citizens are accused of committing the crime of not bowing to Trump they can be violently abducted.
