Trump's Third Term

Technically, yes, I think so. Would it be stupid, crazy, anti-American, contrary to the intent of the amendment and to the survival of democracy? Sure, that too. Your point?
Has the SCOTUS ever done anything anti-American and contrary to the intent of the constitution in order to help Trump?

The guitars are out.

The verdict, a standard "Chibson" style Les Paul copy (but not close enough to infringe copyright). Not bad for a beginner after a cheap guitar but nothing like similar quality guitars are much cheaper, similar price guitars are better. The "Make America Great Again" inlay is poorly done so the letters don't line up neatly with the frets.

A signed guitar $11,500.

Amer CA is what they're planning to name the new Reich once they've annexed Canada.

You are going to get a lot more Rush, Nickelback, Joni Mitchell, Celine Dion, Alanis Morrisette and J.D. Lang after Canadia becomes State 51. And moose-jerky.

You ready for this?

"Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation," Trump wrote on Monday. "We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!"

Trump's latest post comes two weeks after he first made headlines by expressing support for U.S. ownership of Greenland.

"[F]or purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity," the president-elect's Truth Social post read.

I keep feeling like I must be hallucinating.

So does anyone actually think Dump will invade Greenland, or is there a consensus here that it's the usual distractions and clowning? Shirley if NATO really started worrying they'd just station troops from multiple NATO countries there like they have in east Europe to deter russian aggression.

Then again, one infuriating scenario I'm envisioning is that since Greenland is so big, and largely uninhabited, I imagine it'd be possible for Dump to just have US forces disembark and set up a base in the wilderness somewhere, over everyone's protests, and since NATO can't exactly start a shooting war with the USA over some patch of snow in Greenland, it'll just stay there indefinitely, like the base in Guantanamo Bay on Cuba. Mind you, I'm a civilian with no clue as to whether or not this is feasible.

Having said that, I do agree it's endlessly frustrating that the leader of the free world is throwing out ridiculous scenarios like a six-year old.

The US already has a base on Greenland. Trump wants full sovereignty.

I disagree. I think he wants to go down in history as the President who added the most territory to the US since 1864, or ever if he manages to add Canada.
He would sell both to Putin if it kept him out of jail. Putin has his balls in a jar in his desk. And his bank account details. Trump won't be president long if those details slip.

They're already there.

Uh, the US Air Force has had Thule Air Base in Greenland since World War Two. I know a couple of people who were stationed there. Not a fun posting at all.

I dunno. We're entertaining. I mean, do you want our political discourse to revolve around sound governance and maximum benefit to our citizenry and using our abundant resources for the betterment of the world community, or laugh at the orange psycho who seems to want to buy nation islands that aren't actually offered for sale, and perhaps attack them with the world's largest and most destructive military in history?

You know, when you say it out loud...

Way back when I knew someone who had been posted in Greenland in some remote station studying radio wave propagation. He actually found it kind of fun. He knew more about the subject than his superiors, which afforded him some latitude in a performance-based assignment, and he apparently enjoyed fraternizing with the local Inuit, who are said to be very nice and neighborly and not at all prudish. Little known is the fact that a proper igloo can get very warm inside, owing to the vast insulating properties of the walls, and the occupants were, so I was told, nudists indoors. Of course that was almost 60 years ago, so they've probably gone and gotten all sivilized now.

Let us just say the off base recreational possibilities most US servicemen like are not available.
