Trump's Third Term

His weird demands ar like the Ostend Manifesto. A paper drawn up at Ostend in October, 1854 , by the United States Ministers to Great Britain , France , and Spain , and forwarded to their Government at Washington . It declared that the possession of Cuba was necessary to the safety and welfare of the United States, and that if Spain would not sell the island it should be taken by force . The manifesto was ineffective .

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice

It seems to me that doing away with the 'elected' part of that and just declaring yourself in for another term would bypass A22.

But does it seem to you that declaring your presidency would satisfy the constitution?
The what? Oh, that word. The one the Supreme Court uses to justify whatever decisions they feel like making. Sometimes we have slavery, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we can get abortions, sometimes we can't. As a magical word it's not very reliable, the effects seem to be different each time it's invoked. Perhaps they're doing it wrong, but they say they aren't and they're in charge of deciding how good they are.

Ahem. AGAIN... Trump is perfectly prepared to defy or simply ignore the constitution if it suits his immediate desires. It's just "the law", and Trump has zero regard for "the law". It means zero, zilch, nothing, nada, bupkiss. And the SCOTUS is backing him with the "presidential criming is OK by us!" ruling.

Yeah, it's a pretty big damn lie when they have to contradict not only the plain facts but also basic English. I think they do honestly believe that they are (ala Trump's beloved "weave") being astoundingly brilliant thinkers when they trot out this kind of idiotic drivel- they're like the teenager who didn't do or understand the course work but is convinced he can fake his way to an A+ for it.
Well they've done it before, I don't doubt they can do it again and I'm pretty sure with the deck stacked the way it is your theoretical teenager could just scrawl A++++ on their paper in front of their teacher and the entire class and be hailed as a genius.

Every Political and Legal expert I have seen , regardless of political beliefs, says a third term for Donne is simply not legally possible.

The S.C. created "immunity" out of thin air, and ruled the 14th Amendment doesn't say what it clear-as-day says. They will bloody well dance a twerky jig again if Trump tells them to. Bet on it.

How about a second term of indeterminate number of years? How about delaying the next election because of special emergency circumstances (thanks to Senator Jar-Jar Binks)?

Have you gotten you AR 15 yet? If you are right, then armed resisetence is the only alternative.

Given his age and decline over the past 4 years I don't think he would be able to serve a third term
I didn't think he would be able to survive his first term, but that was obviously wishful thinking.

Being President is an extremely stressful job that takes a severe toll and visibly ages the office holder during their term, but only if they actually make an effort to do the job.

No matter what Trump has gotten away with in the past, if he tried to actually get himself on the ballot for a third term, he would find regular people who make up ballots and stuff saying "No. Just no." You can get away with some crazy ◊◊◊◊ with even the most ridiculous of argumemts/defenses, but you can't just go full tilt Napoleon and expect ongoing support.

Yeah...but isn't that also what people thought before the successful crazy ◊◊◊◊?

Back off, bitch, I need to sleep at night.
Cheer up: what you think of as "you" is simply the latest iteration in a long line of interrupted conscious states. When you fall asleep you actually cease to exist, and the conscious entity that wakes up in the body is actually someone else. He just inherits the memories and assumes he's the same person you were.

That's what I always tell police. "That was yesterday, officer, so it obviously couldnt have been the current me".
