Trump's Third Term

Let us just say the off base recreational possibilities most US servicemen like are not available.
Yes, as I say, this was many years ago, and there does always exist the teeny-weeny possibility that he was something of a fabulist. It does seem to be true, at least, that igloos can get very warm.

Greenland has its own share of idiots.
From what I have read, a few of the advocates of Greenland's Indepedence used the idea of the US taking over to get leverage in the debate with Denmark, but there is hardly anybody who wants a US take over.

Using Trump as leverage is foolhardy.

What would they use the leverage for? Greenland already has the power to vote on independence.

The Greenlanders aren't stupid. They know that there will be a huge hole in their finances if they become independent and lose the subsidy payment they currently get from Denmark. Independence without an international "sugar daddy" isn't a realistic economic prospect.

China has demonstrated that they are prepared to perform that role in the developing world (in exchange for mineral rights and international influence) and I'm sure they would be delighted to do so for a slice of the Greenland pie.

And don't forget the massive high interest loans and forced contracting of Chinese companies to do all the work. The belt and road initiative has slowed down a lot over the last few years.

Given Trump has no idea where the place actually is on a map, it would be foolish to think he cares one iota about the people who live there.
I think he has been shown a map, but being ignorant of what map projections are he's fallen for the illusion that Greenland is much bigger than it actually is, and therefore he desires it.

Trump is simply following Putin's orders on Greenland. He wants to destabilize NATO, Greenland is owned by Denmark. He's going to use Greenland as an excute for the USA to leave NATO.

Who in Trump's entourage is channeling the idea to him.
Gorka would be my guess. But Donny has long surrounded himself with people who have nebulous connections to even more nebulous organisations in the Middle East and the Russian underworld. Trump has been directly involved in that milieu since his casino/money-laundering days, at least. And he grew up with his father involved with the NYC mafia in the building industry. Rumors have been strong for a long time that Putin holds Donny's markers, and various events seem to back that up. So it could be any of Donny's entourage who are a surreptitious channel to Putin.
