Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

My opinion is we should ELIMINATE school busses!! ... No kid should have to walk more that 1/2 mile to school ... Unless the parents want their kid in a different school ... Funding decided upon first, a minimum enrolment for a school, ... then by volume of students.

School boards would be run by local parents, and grandparents, elected to the position, by their peers. And the curriculum should cover the basics (I hate the term "the 3 R's" but that) ... With anything is addition to be decided upon by the Board and hence the Parents ...

All my kids were homeschooled so what do I know :)
(Looks at population density map of rural Kansas)

...Right. Good luck with that...

It worked fine for 100 years ... 6 or 8 kids in calls is very manageable.

My grade school had two rooms and was 1.25 miles from the farm ... there was 15 kids in my class ... Grades 4,to 8, one teacher.

The smartest couple of kids helped the less skilled pupils :)

well hopefully a lot because you homeschooled your kids
It was always a team effort :) when the kids were little we had a volunteer come once a week to keep them up with average "school curriculum' (She was principal of our "local school" two doors away from our old house ... I handled trade skills, and most math (fractions from 1/2 to 1/64) , and some physics metallurgy, and science.

My wife and then eldest daughter (after my wife died) handled subjects that conformed to popular 'Real School" curriculum, and my eldest son helped with Algebra, foreign language skills, geography (He was a major Anime and Minecraft Fan! . and can speak some japanese and hence a huge fan of ancient geography:)

The important thing about "school" is the kids should be learning "new stuff"all the time .. the actual content is not as important as the process :)

We taught popular curriculum incase whatever "child services" is called in your area, came to check up on us

One time. my eldest daughter had an argument with her cousin (my wife's brother's "offspring") and they called Child Services to report our situation.

A team of two, came by and basically told us who called ... got a permission form signed to check with our family doctor ... and left with "nothing to report" ... best case scenario in these kinds of instances.

This was all very long ago ... my eldste in in her mid 30's now :)

well, that's cool. i did the covid thing a few years back when it was school at home, and i felt it was way too difficult. it's great that people can do it well and congratulations for doing that, but i have a lot of concerns for people that shouldn't be and don't realize it which i think is a pretty decent chunk of homeschoolers.

Good points ... It is definitely not for everyone ... My kids found it beneficial when job hunting :) "Never been to a school" really stands out on a resume :)

I agree

His wife and daughter failed to appear at the

As Happy Toast posted

"Cheer yourself up by thinking how much Trump must be ******** himself today and how much of a bastard he'll be being to everyone around him."

His wife failed to show up at the Women For Trump rally yesterday so I’m sure the family tensions are high too.

So, apparently there is a lot of footage of Melania walking around with sunglasses on inside...

Snopes: Melania Trump's Body Double Didn't Appear After Voting -- False!

But all Republicans know that Snopes, like all fact-checking sites, is far-left fake news so the story is clearly true!

A space with close camera flashes after coming in from bright sunlight is a more likely reason.

Or she was crying that he will win. I dont think she wants to be first lady again.
Michelle Obama didn't like being in DC either.

You're all individuals!
Yes! We're all individuals!
You're all different!
Yes, we are all different!
I'm not...
The irony of this (now) meme, is that it was unscripted.
A non-speaking role actor threw it in so he would be paid for a speaking role if it was used.
The “shushing” by the other actors was genuine, as they thought he’d accidentally ruined the take.

Will try to go to bed now, or perhaps go for a walk first to burn off some energy. Can't wait to wake up tomorrow and just know the results.
To whoever stays up, good luck with the **** show, I guess. I've found watching cooking channels on YouTube to be a good way to relieve stress.
