“78-Year-Old Criminal”: Kamala Savagely Roasts Trump’s Newest Meltdown | The New Republic

After Donald Trump’s bizarre attacks against Vice President Kamala Harris in a phone interview on Fox News Thursday morning, her campaign fired back with a blistering response of its own.

The Harris campaign sent out an email minutes later with the subject line “Statement on a 78-year-old criminal’s Fox News appearance,” wondering “is Donald Trump ok?” They called out Trump for “lying and making threats,” praising abortion bans while criticizing mail-in-voting, and being “old and quite weird.”

If this is the tone Harris is taking with her campaign, it's just perfect.

The other was from Trump's rally where he was saying he didn't think the American people would by the Prosecutor vs. Convicted Criminal casting. Basically the campaign played the clip and finished with "My name is Kamala Harris and I approve this message."

An interesting explanation I've come across recently for why Trump started bringing up Hannibal Lecter, which seems to be part of the fact that he's started bringing up foreign "insane asylums" (as sources of immigrants to the USA) in general lately: he probably seriously thinks that's what seeking "asylum" as an immigrant or refugee is about, because the word "asylum" appears in both contexts. It reminds me of when he saw "ramparts" on a teleprompter, didn't know the word, and replaced it with "airports". In that case it was two separate words, one of which he didn't know, instead of two usages for the same word, which he doesn't know the difference between, but the general process & outcome was the same: putting a word or word-usage in the wrong context where it doesn't make sense because he's acting as if it were the one word or word-usage & context that he does know.

* * *

Unrelated to that: Of all the Republicans he could have chosen among for VP, how did he end up at Vance, who has such a strange background and whom most Republican voters don't even like? A possible part of the answer: he really didn't have many choices among Republican politicians, because most Republican politicians, secretly or not, don't like or respect him. It's only the voters who do. More interestingly & insightfully, Chris Cillizza has pointed out that Trump loves a redemption story, with "redemption" defined as "switching from being negative about Trump to being positive about Trump". CC pointed out a series of other cases in Trump's history in which he's made a particular point of promoting people who had previously spoken in public against Trump but then changed their ways. And Vance's turnaround on that subject might be the biggest one of all (among high-level politicians).

It's in the Hill and lots of other outlets

Vice President Harris’s campaign hit at former President Trump’s interview on Fox News on Thursday, questioning his age and mental stamina.

The campaign released a “Statement on a 78-Year-Old Criminal’s Fox News Appearance,” knocking Trump for his age in an effort to turn the tables after President Biden, 81, dropped his bid over questions about if he was fit to serve another four years in office.

Trump posted

"Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
We're not ready for a Marxist President, and Lyin' Kamala Harris is a RADICAL LEFT MARXIST, AND WORSE!"

I'm glad to hear that Trump thinks that Marxism is the Future.
But where is his can-do attitude?

The US is ready for ANYTHING !

Much as I agree gambling markets can be a guide, I think Harris will break that mould, because her support among young voters are people who won't gamble, don't respond to surveys, and will be under-estimated by everyone.

Political types have a word for those who count on the youth vote: Losers. I worked on the McGovern campaign in 1972 (kid walking around in the crowd with a bucket gathering donations), and the word we kept hearing from the top was not to pay attention to the polls, because McGovern was going to win the youth vote in a landslide. He did win the youth demo: 51-49, with a smaller-than-expected turnout.

Kamala has a much better chance to win than Biden had. But she's not ahead yet.

Trump Campaign Statement on General Election Debates

"Given the continued political chaos surrounding Crooked Joe Biden and the Democrat Party, general election debate details cannot be finalized until Democrats formally decide on their nominee. There is a strong sense by many in the Democrat Party - namely Barack Hussein Obama - that Kamala Harris is a Marxist fraud who cannot beat President Trump, and they are still holding out for someone "better." Therefore, it would be inappropriate to schedule things with Harris because Democrats very well could still change their minds."

- Steven Cheung, Trump Campaign Communications Director

The Dems secret weapon might be Vance. Already a number of people in the GOP are saying he was a mistake. And Donnie's "I might have made a mistake" comment on Faux News is not helping.

Apparently Maga don't like him because his wife is Indian.
His kids are half Indian and he eats Indian vegetarian food which they feel makes him a 'cuck' apparently.

“Barack Hussein Obama”

Ah! The old hits. Can’t wait for the tan suit to get another airing.

Anyway, looks like they are just going to do racisms for this campaign. Lots and lots of racisms.

It seems to me the GOP campaigned to get Biden out of the running for the next election.

Now they have what they wanted they aren't very happy.

I think Trump will either drop Vance or, if he thinks he's losing support, keep him so he can blame someone for his loss apart from it was stollen again.

The GOP's Portrayal of Biden Is as Bad as the Democrats' Portrayal of Trump

I had no intention of voting for President Biden (and I'm not voting for Trump or Harris), but, unlike most Republicans, I am willing to acknowledge that Biden has done many good things. It's too bad that nearly all Democrats won't acknowledge any of the good things that Trump did. Yes, Biden has done many things that I find objectionable, but Biden deserves praise for the following achievements:

-- Pushing and signing the infrastructure bill.

-- Reducing the cost of prescription drugs and allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices.

-- Continuing and expanding Trump's tariffs against China.

-- Forcing Chinese companies operating in America to allow federal audits/inspections.

-- Forming a new alliance with Japan and South Korea to counter China's increasingly aggressive posture in the Indo-Pacific region.

-- Reducing bank and credit card fees.

-- Raising the minimum wage for federal contractors (this was long overdue).

-- Pushing to raise the threshold for overtime pay to make over 3 million workers eligible for overtime pay for the first time (this was long, long overdue).

-- Allowing prescriptions for addictions to be issued via telehealth.

-- Greatly expanding the U.S. military's drone program.

-- Forcing a deal to save the Colorado River.

-- Providing federal aid and new regulations to aid small and midsize food producers against predatory giant food producers.

-- Legislation to encourage and support the production of microchips on U.S. soil.

-- Leaving the vast majority of the Trump tax cuts intact.

-- Giving Ukraine enough aid to hold off the Russians and being willing to give Ukraine increasingly lethal weapons.

-- Forming new defense partnerships with the Philippines and Papua New Guinea, and deepening ties with India and Australia.

Several other positive actions could be listed. In many respects, Biden has governed as a centrist and has been willing to compromise to get things done in many cases. I should add that Biden has carried himself much more presidentially and credibly than Trump did.

I'm voting for RFK Jr.
