Trump's Second Term

Will someone explain to me why Trump is on Putin's side? Seriously, he is Russia's biggest ally. Where Trump demands everyone stick their tongue up his ass, he is constantly burying his up Putin's. Russia keeps getting weaker and weaker and Trump keeps throwing them lifelines.
Donald admires dictators, they get to do whatever they want and can get rid of anyone that criticises them.
Some weird form of reflected glory.

Why do you think he is? He opposed the Nordstream pipeline. He gave lethal aid to Ukraine when Obama refused to. He's promoted US energy production, attacked Putin's allies, and dialed up sanctions against Russia. You want him to do more, but he's not doing what an actual ally would do. He never has.

Hardly.
No he didn't. He totally has his tongue up Putin's ass. He delayed aid to Ukraine even though Congress authorized it. He only released the aid after the courts stepped in. He had absolutely NOTHING to do with it. A month ago he demanded that Ukraine agree to the most one sided terms. He demanded they surrender lots of their own territory to Russia. Russia is on the verge of collapse.

Russia is weak. They thought they would just roll over Ukraine in a week. Well, it's been two years, Russia has suffered a million plus casualties and lost two trillion dollars worth of equipment and infrastructure. They have virtually no allies. Trump is Putin's only help. But the rest of Europe and NATO is telling Trump they aren't interested in his Neville Chamberlain appeasement. Trump's basic problem is Americans are more on Ukraine's side, not his.

You seem to be unaware that Trump gave lethal aid to Ukraine during his FIRST term. Obama, by contrast, only gave non-lethal aid after Russia's 2014 land grab.

You really don't understand what happened.

No, you really don't. Congress authorized that lethal aid to Ukraine. Trump had nothing to do with it. He grudgingly supported Ukraine. He delayed aid at every turn.

Pretty sure that was meant to be 3 years, getting close to 4 years, now, since the beginning of the higher intensity part of the invasion began.

No he didn't.

To add a bit, Zig's argued, for example, that Trump supports US oil production and that that means that Trump is opposed to Russia as all the evidence he cares about when it comes to evaluating Trump's relationship with Russia while he's causally hand waved away all the evidence that there's good reason to be concerned. In short, he's repeatedly made it perfectly clear that his interests lie not in rational assessment, just partisan apologetics. This latest post about Obama not giving lethal aid and such until after is really just par for the course as he leaves out quite a lot of very relevant information that would show that the narrative he's pushing is very unreasonable. I would suggest tempering any expectations in a discussion with him.

Do you think thieves, burglars and shoplifters should be allowed to get away with their crimes because they didn't steal from you?
I would not appreciate some rando coming into my house to attempt to apprehend a guy that's burgling my house. By the transitive property I assume other people also would prefer to have some say in how problems with crime affecting them are addressed.

I feel there's a lot more leeway for pursuing someone who stole YOUR stuff into somebody else's house than there is in just being a general purpose vigilante and pursuing criminals you have nothing much to do with, into other people's houses.

Yeah, time flies when you're killing people.

Yep.

You only think that because you are cherry picking my posts.

Go have a look back at US Politics forums during the time of The Fat Orange Turd's first term, and the Biden presidency. When you don't cherry pick the debates that fit your preferred view of me, you'll find a very, very different story.
Yes, it's been distressing to watch you being so quickly radicalised.
