Trump's Second Term

Back near the beginning of Trump's first term, cartoon/comic book writers said that Trump was actually too over the top dumb and bad to be used as a villain, because it just wouldn't be believable and thus wouldn't sell.
It worked OK in Back to the Future II.

First, the sensational headline gets your attention.... Village Bombed in US air Strike
I may have missed it, as this thread moves fast, but where did you see that headline?

So then you read the article, and find a somewhat different story..

A day after part of a missile fired by the United States hit their village, landing just meters from its only medical facility, the people of Jabo in northwestern Nigeria are in a state of shock and confusion.
He said the projectile had struck a field “approximately 500 meters” from a Primary Health Center in Jabo and that, while there were no casualties,
Nigeria’s Information Ministry later said that the government, in collaboration with the US, had “successfully conducted precision strike operations” targeting ISIS hideouts in the forests of Tangaza district in Sokoto.
However, it also noted that “during the course of the operation, debris from expended munitions fell in Jabo,” and another area in north-central Kwara state – though it stressed there had been no civilian casualties.

So the village wasn't "bombed" after all... some debris from an exploded missile fell in a field "just metres" away... Yeah, just 500 metres away!! (for the Americans in the room, thats a third of a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ mile!).

FFS use your critical thinking skills folks and start employing some skepticism. Read the whole article, don't just knee jerk to the sensationalist headline.

The villagers may well have been alarmed by the attack, even if no bombs fell nearby, given what happened almost exactly a year ago.

Sanusi Madabo, a farmer, said the sky glowed a bright red for hours from what he learned only later had been a US airstrike. “It was almost like daytime,” he said.
...

For residents of Sokoto, the US strikes brought back memories of when the Nigerian air force mistakenly bombed an area just an hour away from Jabo on Christmas Day last year. The villagers received compensation only five days ago, according to the air force’s Facebook page, which said 13 civilians had been “unintentionally killed” and eight injured.

This completely misunderstands, or ignores, the intent of terrorism in the first place.
Edit: Also, condemning foreign terrorism while supporting a regime that wantonly blows up random boats on the high seas is just wild to me.
Blowing up random boats because they are supposedly involved in drugs, whilst pardoning someone at the top who had been convicted.

It's almost as though it is nothing to do with drugs

Where does it say that? (Hint: It doesn't.)

I guess then that it's OK to drop a big chunk of a missile (a/k/a "bomb") on an innocent village. Just collateral damage of course. If anyone had been killed, I'm sure the Pentagon and State Department would have immediately apologized! (Hint: No, they wouldn't.)

Based on his record, there is NO ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ WAY I or anyone else should give Schitler the benefit of the doubt regard where anything is dropping, and the real reason of this mission. He doesn't give a SINGLE FLYING ◊◊◊◊ about anyone in Nigeria, which shouldn't be surprising since he only gives a FLYING ◊◊◊◊ about Americans who vote for him, and even that disappears once the election is over. This is entirely about building his support for his second attempt at a coup in 2028, gotta keep the religious right on his side.

It is entirely relevant. You are suggesting it is the responsibility of the US to be a world policeman. That's not in any nation's interest, including the US's.
Oh ye of little faith! I'm sure next on the agenda will be correcting China's abuse of Tibetans and Uyghurs, Myanmar's Rohingya genocide, and Russia's invasion of its neighbors, followed by a regrouping of the forces in Afghanistan.

Among other news about fallout from Trump changes of policy -

US foreign policy forcing children into marriage, labor or into the arms of traffickers

The headline sums it up, really. Even more evidence to add to the pile about how the Trump Administration is happy to screw over kids and give aid to the darker side of humanity, all while loudly pretending to do the opposite.

This is doubtless also related to Trump's Man-made Hunger Crisis, either way.
The cruelty is the point.

Will someone explain to me why Trump is on Putin's side? Seriously, he is Russia's biggest ally. Where Trump demands everyone stick their tongue up his ass, he is constantly burying his up Putin's. Russia keeps getting weaker and weaker and Trump keeps throwing them lifelines.

We've been over this. Trump has been Putin's bitch since his casino money-laundering days. Putin holds Trump's markers, essentially, and his pearly pink balls, in his Kremlin desk drawer. Much of Trump's credit would seem to be with Sberbank. Mixed in with Saudi bribes largesse.

It seems to me this isn't just about money. There has to be a point where money is basically superficial. It's not like it affects his quality of life at all.

It does for Trump. He is a keen advocate of "He who dies with the most money wins". Not that he is actually rich comparatively. He just wants to look bigger than he actually is.

Why do you think he is? He opposed the Nordstream pipeline. He gave lethal aid to Ukraine when Obama refused to. He's promoted US energy production, attacked Putin's allies, and dialed up sanctions against Russia. You want him to do more, but he's not doing what an actual ally would do. He never has.
Seriously, he is Russia's biggest ally.
Hardly.

The usual take we see on this is some sort of blackmail. I suppose there might be an act so treasonous or dirty and un-spinnable that even the loyal minions would stop and think, but it gets harder to believe this as their forgiveness of nearly every sin continues and even morphs into praise. Real men, after all, ◊◊◊◊ in their pants and lie and talk gibberish. It's the weave of the genius. My guess is that Trump is just a fanboy, who dreams himself in Putin's place, wrestling bears on his snow-white steed, and his fanboys in turn think "yeah, and I'll ride by his side." And his nightmare is his idol saying "bad boy."

trump is beyond the need for money. but also he’s very stupid and can’t think beyond getting more

but imo there’s definitely something to his russian connections. he abandons his allies when it suits him, but somehow putin has him by the short hairs. i’m not sure what it is, but it’s something. probably whatever the epstein stuff has him so spooked about imo

Seriously? You don't already know why?

Back in 2019, I posted the following with regard to The Fat Orange Turd in a thread in the USA politics forum. It bears repeating

1. Keeps going out of his way to help Russia & Putin.
2. Won't allow any any American government officials to be present (other than a translator) when talking with Putin.
3. Confiscates the translator's notes after talking with Putin.
4. Is so desperate to exonerate Russia for interference in the 2016 election; interference that the REPUBLICAN led Senate Intelligence Committee has 100% confirmed.
5. Blocked efforts of the US Government to condemn Russia for seizing Ukrainian shipping in the Kerch Strait.
6. Undermined US relationships with European allies (to the benefit of Putin).
7. Dismisses the evidence and the findings of his own intelligence officials, preferring to believe the Kremlin instead.
8. Calls the US’s commitment to NATO into question (to the benefit of Putin).
9. Fails to respond to Russian human rights violations thereby creating an easier political environment for Putin to crack down on his opponents.
10. Attacks the European Union and publicly supports anti-EU, Kremlin-backed parties.
11. Repeatedly praises and defends Putin, thus affording him the credibility of his standing to the US presidency.
12. repeatedly parrots Putin/Russian/Kremlin talking points across a whole range of international issues.
13, Tries to block, lift, roll back, impede, and lessen the impact of Russia sanctions every chance he gets.
14. Attacks specific NATO members that are particularly vulnerable to Russian aggression.
15. Refused to recommit to NATO’s Article 5 at the opening of their new headquarters. (Article 5 is the bit that states that an attack on one NATO member is an attack on all).
16. Openly supported the Brexit campaign - something Putin desperately wants as well.
The Fat Orange Turd does all that stuff because Putin owns him. Much of this still applies, and if you had been paying attention for the last several years you would already know this.

There was an article I read a few years ago about how Putin has influence over him. I can't remember where I read it, but it floated a theory that The Fat Orange Turd has been a Kremlin asset for many years - well before he ever ran for the presidency. I kept the text of the article because I thought it might be worth posting sometime. Your question makes me think a suitable time has arrived, so here it is. .

One day, the true story of Donald Trump’s Russian connection will be told and it will read like a spy novel. It’s the story of a beauty pageant that led to the election of a President.
In November of 2013, Donald Trump held the Miss Universe Contest in Moscow. At the time Trump was broke. He was deeply in debt and after five bankruptcies, not a bank in America would lend him money. For a week Mr. Trump and a bevy of the most beautiful women in the world partied with all the bigwigs in Russia: politicos, oligarchs, rock stars, celebrities, even Vladimir Putin himself. There has been much speculation about what went down in that week of booze, babes, and big money, but whatever it was, it changed the course of history. A few months later the Trump organization received a massive infusion of cash from Deutsche Bank, a German banking giant that has routinely paid millions in fines for illegally laundering money for the Russians. Trump left Moscow with the financial backing he so desperately needed; and Putin had his hooks in Trump.
In 2015 Trump announced his candidacy for POTUS and Putin began actively cultivating his asset. The Mueller Report states unequivocally that Russia conducted a systematic misinformation campaign designed to tarnish Trump’s opponents and promote his candidacy. Russia’s influence in the 2016 election was pervasive and it worked. With Putin’s help, Donald J Trump became the 45th president of the United States and he wasted no time paying off the debt he owed to his pal Vladimir.
Trump spoke glowingly of him every chance he got. Every executive decision benefited Putin.
- He ceded the Middle East to Russia, withdrew from Syria, and allowed Putin to fill the void.
- He turned his back on Ukraine, the last bastion standing between Russia and a free Europe.
- He disavowed NATO, the alliance that had held Russia at bay for over 70 years.
- He pulled US troops out of Germany, something the Kremlin has always wanted.
- At the Helsinki summit, Trump chose to publicly believe Putin over his own intelligence agencies.
- He attacked America’s friends and embraced her enemies just as Vladimir wanted.
At home Trump became the divider in chief, driving deep divisions between all the different factions of American society. To 'destroy America from within', by exacerbating divisions & driving a wedge between blacks and whites, rich and poor, left and right, has long been a part of Putin’s KGB playbook - as Khrushchev boasted in 1956. Russian hackers, from troll farms such as Prighozin's "Internet Research Agency", are inflaming racial tensions across the country, infiltrating radical groups, and planting disinformation on social media.
In 2024, two DOJ indictments charged Russian propaganda engine, "Russia Today" (RT) with paying millions to right-wing commentators such as those at "Tenet Media" (Tim Poole, Benny Johnson, Dave Rubin & Lauren Southern) to proliferate talking points favourable to Russian interests, in an influence scheme code-named, "Project Good Ol' USA". RT has a list of 600 "influencers" in USA & around the world on their list of "useful idiots".
In 2025, further evidence that Donald "Krasnov" Trump is a traitor came from two former Soviet KGB Intelligence officers, Alnur Mussayev & Yuri Shvets, who now claim that Donald Trump was recruited by the KGB in 1987, groomed as a Russian asset, given the code name "Krasnov", and remains under Russian control to this day.
