Trump's Second Term

Someone tell me this is a bleak joke. Please.

Nope, just to save people a few clicks, per the AP:

The Environmental Protection Agency told a federal appeals court it will reconsider the Biden administration’s ban on the last type of asbestos used in the United States to determine whether it went “beyond what is necessary.”

Asbestos is linked to tens of thousands of deaths annually and causes mesothelioma as well as other cancers. It has been largely phased out in the United States. Last year, the Biden administration sought to finish the decades-long fight by banning chrysotile asbestos. At the time, the EPA called it a milestone in the fight against cancer.

The EPA on Monday said in a court filing that it would reconsider the Biden administration’s rule over roughly the next 30 months. The agency said the Toxic Substances Control Act requires it to evaluate a chemical’s risk and the consequences of restricting it.

Is that picture real? Trump's tan is even worse then usual - there is a straight line down his right side like he was standing behind a wall when he got sprayed. His right ear is entirely white.
He's getting worse with the airbrush.

That ear is also, surprisingly, completely undamaged. I've never seen an ear grow back a missing piece before. Pretty impressive.

I read some time ago that Trump doesn't let anyone else style his hair or do his makeup (probably because he's too vain to admit that he wears makeup or has a comb-over). I suspect he only applies makeup to the parts of his face he can see when he's sitting close to his mirror.

Much has also been made of his weird forward-leaning posture when he's standing, including speculation about neurological problems that might explain his odd cant. But I think it's plausible that he simply does it because he thinks it makes him look slimmer. Practicing in front of a mirror, it probably even works to some extent, at least in conjunction with the long ties and baggy suit jackets. But he's never thought about how it looks from the side.

I think a great deal about Trump can be better understood in the context of a man who has spent a lot of time in front of mirrors.

That and the shoe lifts...

To be fair, that's correct. That's exactly why the current Republican Party shouldn't be part of the government, much less running it.

Called it.

If only. Trump has a long history of praising and defending asbestos. More recently in his first term, a Russian asbestos company put his face on their product in relation to his push to lift restrictions. That it's happening again is honestly completely predictable, given Trump. The only surprise would be that it's taken this long.

Entirely serious question: is this revenge for some decades-old festering resentment of Trump's because some property deal of his got stopped as the building was contaminated with asbestos?

Plausible, but I haven't seen any direct evidence to support that. To borrow context from the linked article from back in his first term -

Adding to the speculation that the EPA proposal is a backhanded way of reviving asbestos use is President Donald Trump’s own obsession with the material. Trump has often called for the use of asbestos, ignoring the well- established scientific evidence linking the material to fatal diseases like lung cancer and mesothelioma.

In his 1997 book “The Art of the Comeback,” Trump espoused a conspiracy theory blaming the disappearance of material on “mob-related companies” profiting from asbestos removal.

He also tweeted in 2012 that the World Trade Center would not have collapsed on 9/11 if asbestos had been used in its construction. Of course, asbestos was indeed used in the WTC and many rescue workers have died from diseases linked to asbestos exposure.

Trump’s fondness for the material has not gone unnoticed. Shortly after the EPA proposed the rule in June, Russian mining company Uralasbest, one of the world’s largest asbestos producers, posted photos on social media of pallets of asbestos stamped with a seal depicting Trump’s face and reading, “Approved by Trump, the 45th President of the Unites States.”

His lift shoes will change his stance as well.

It's also rumored that he is embarrassed at his small feel and where shoes a few sizes larger, stuffing the toes. Don't know about this one, but given his monumental narcissism, it's not out of the question.
