Trump runs the part of the government he's responsible for, including diplomacy/foreign relations, as if each day was a new episode in a reality-TV series, and he makes his decisions based on how they will play on TV; every week must end in a cliffhanger to be sure the audience tunes in next week to see how our hero prevailed. (And this mindset extends to how other branches of the government, including the states, are treated- they are supporting characters only, and cannot ever be seen to overshadow his central celebrity)
