• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

What exactly qualifies as magic?

It's probably not a bright line, but what you have there looks more "geek" (old, carnival meaning, not tech guy meaning). I'd put it in with hooks through the flesh, "blockhead" or other risky/ballsy stuff. It can still be entertainment, but I wouldn't call it "magic."

On the other hand, needle through arm (popularized by Harry Anderson) kinda bridges the line, since it looks "geek," but is done as an illusion.

Another one that comes to mind is the bed-o-nails.

Maybe the difference is whether you are really doing what you claim and it isn't as dangerous as people assume, or whether you are flat-out tricking the audience?

In other words if I am telling the truth it's
Not magic.
This is highly technically advanced, or I am
Superman.
http:// Chainsaw magic cutting leg while cutting wood.: http://youtu.be/TAPVSYlu0ss
Any chainsaw that will cut though
Wood will cut though flesh and bone,
It's just skill and knowledge.
That protects me, I have done this
On my neck blindfolded but reserve that
For well paid events.

It's just my opinion, but generally, skill is concealed in a magic trick. We do have a category called "flourishes" where raw skill is displayed (like rolling a coin across your knuckles or "fancy" work with cards), but it's not usually referred to as magic. There is, for example, a sub-genre called ECM (extreme card manipulation) that's primarily displays.

None of this is meant to denigrate what you showed in that video. I'm just trying to answer the question from the OP.

No offence taken, I always refered to it as
Stunts not magic before, but adopted the name
Because others have so often used it.
Like the time I shaved the guy in Louisville
Who pulled a knife on me while trying to break
Into my truck.
Shaved him and dropped his pants with
An 056 magnum Stihl with 36 inch bar.
The deputy from the sheriff's department
Told me and I quote, "Thats the most wickedly
Assume magic I have ever heard of."
Do not know.why I.am so good,
Just always was.

People just do not seem to.realize that
Exstream skills can exist they feel it has to
Be a trick of some.kind.
