VisionFromFeeling - General discussion thread

Since I was there, and took a photo of her, I'd better issue a denial too. I did not have sexual relations with that woman. :)

While we wait for the roll-call to continue, I has a funny Arcturus Annie story from back in May this year.

She posted this typically non sequitur comment at Scepticblog in response to an article about Stephen Hawking:

How about the prospect that alien life not only exist, but be far more advanced than us, and equipped with benevolence, and having existed for so long, being fully capable of sustenance on their own resources. And even fully aware of the life on Earth, but understanding us so well to know that we are not ready for contact. It is refreshing to see that a science education and the brilliance of a man such as Dr. Plait, does not produce the imagination necessary to think outside of what is already known, familiar, and experienced, to imagine concepts that are not human. And so I can fully well imagine Phil Plait in the antique societies, thinking on and off for a few days, only to conclude on what is available in scientific resources then, that indeed the Earth be flat, and centered in the universe.

Equally typically, because nobody else responded to this nonsense, she replied to herself (two months later :eye-poppi):

… and that the Moon be made of cheese.

No, no, no, it ain't me, Babe
It ain't me you're lookin' for.

As they say in the classics.

But anyway, the test (if it even happens) is nigh. We figured out that the previous one was going to be at TAM. I feel weird not having figured this out yet. She's usually so transparent.

Any ideas?

Maybe she is having the test/demo/study on K-Pax...I mean, Tel-Maar? It's a fair distance, but since she travels by light, she could get there and back at high speed. :D

Well, I'm thinkin' the big test (if it happened at all) should have been yesterday (or before). School seems to be starting in North Carolina tomorrow. She had time to fail a test and catch a plane. She's silent about it. I haven't heard a word from any Swedish skeptics about it. Of course, this all still remains speculation. I don't know that she's in Sweden. I don't know that it's a Swedish skeptical group that's conducting the test. It's all a guessing game. I don't even know that she's telling the truth about a third test in the first place. But she said the test would be two weeks from August 3rd. That's the day after tomorrow. I suppose some testing organization is planning to meet her in North Carolina when she arrives, but I doubt it.

A third test?

She had two demonstrations, which she both failed.
Not counting the several informal test-like situations which she also failed.

Anyways, the "third test" is, according to Ikonen, arranged by a "highly credible organization" and "They are also brilliant" (where have I heard this before?

Possibly, because they are "highly credible" and "brilliant" they did not feel the need to accept Ikonen's invitation to her forum to "post any protocol questions or concerns there."

Too much "unwanted interference" perhaps?

Sorry. Shouldn't have called it a "third" test.

If you were highly credible and brilliant (you probably are), would you be caught dead in her forum?

OK, so what do we know? It's now two weeks since she announced that the gender identification test was going to take place in two weeks. She's been curiously silent about it and no skeptical organization (reputable or not, Swedish or American) has even hinted that they want to get anywhere near her. Usually, when she announces something like this, it adds up to something, no matter how stupid.

Don't know if she's in Sweden or the US or where at this point.

But, she has been posting responses to the blog entries of skeptics. For example, she responded to Jeff Wagg's entry in the Swiftblog yesterday. I hope she took what he was saying to heart, but I doubt it. But it seems like she might recognize that he's talking about her in his allegory about the crazy person. She knows (or thinks) it's about her.

On the other hand, she's been posting in response to Michael Shermer's entry at http://skepticblog.org/ about Mel Gibson. This is uncharacteristic of her. This blog entry is not about her. It can't really be twisted into being about her. She doesn't even try to make it about herself. And she promotes it on her website. It's about one of her least favorite subjects. That subject being not Anita Ikonen.

So, I'm confused about the test. I'm confused about her whereabouts. I'm confused about her posting patterns.

She's usually so predictable. It's nice that we can still be surprised.

I just happened to be talking to Audible Click about that very response over the weekend and this is what I said:

"That whole comment is nothing more than a transparent attempt to create a JREF - Anita Ikonen - Michael Shermer link so she can refer to it in future as 'the points I raised on the JREF's behalf with Michael Shermer' or words to that effect."

I can't see any reason to change my appraisal.

The Third Test of my Claim

- was cancelled

Update of August 18 2010

The third test was cancelled a few days prior to its intended date of execution. A date had been set for the weekend of August 14-15th 2010 before all arrangements had been made. The skeptical organization was unable to find a location for the test, as well as a camera person on such short notice (and we are talking about arranging the whole thing in a matter of days, something which is a brave attempt but we gave it a try). Three test subjects, two females one male, had been found, and skeptical members were available for the test on that date.
The cancellation was thus not due to my own negligence, lack of interest, or obfuscation, as some critics are likely to claim. I had done all I could to ensure that it takes place, and so had the skeptical organization. The organization was, I will now reveal, the Swedish skeptical group Vetenskap och Folkbildning found at www.vof.se.

The test and its arrangements could not simply be postponed as I am soon leaving the country for another two years, and valuable members of the organization begin with their own important and time-consuming engagements with work as well. It was a good shot and it could have taken place, meanwhile in the process of arrangements I did learn a lot that I bring with me and that is a valuable contribution to my investigation as a whole.

Thank you to Vetenskap och Folkbildning and their representative Jesper Jerkert for beautiful work, for considering my claim, and for the progress our involvement has led to my investigation as a whole. Bits of our correspondence may be published here later to illustrate what the work is like when dealing with the plans of conducting a paranormal test, as this investigation and website is intended as a documentary of that process.

Except ofcourse that much 'documentation' is removed by Ikonen/VfF from her site.
As such as well, her website is a complete fraud.

Well, the enthusiasm of the organizers seemed to diminish significantly after they were made aware of this very thread. People in Sweden are generally blissfully unaware of Anita's existence, claims and track record. Less so now, thanks to this forum.
