Former Baltimore prosecutor Marilyn Mosby found guilty of perjury

Mosby, who was Baltimore's highest-ranking prosecutor from 2015 to earlier this year, was found guilty after she falsely claimed she was suffering from "financial hardship" because of the pandemic and obtained federal funds illegally.

She used the money for down payments on two vacation homes in Florida, according to the Justice Department.
Mosby was known for charging the six police officers involved in the Freddy Gray case, a Black man who died while in police custody in 2015. The officers were later either acquitted or their trials were declared a mistrial.

Clear Creek County deputies shoot and kill man who asked for help after car crash
The entirety of his offense seemed to just be his refusal to get out of the car, along with actually following the order to not throw the knives and hammer out the window.

:(:(:(

Here's a bodycam video. Video cuts out just before shots are fired, audio goes on for a few more seconds.

For a fair bit of the time the poor fellow is just staring at the cops - not a hostile stare, but more of a befuddled look. Other times he just stares off into the middle distance. There is discussion between him and a female cop of him unlocking the door, he seems to think he is unable to do that. She seems to be trying to work with him to get the car unstuck.

A particularly aggressive cop insists on standing on the hood with his gun drawn, as if poor Glass is going to stab someone through the windshield or closed door.

So they break the passenger side window. Everything was pretty calm until then - other than the hyper-escalatory idiot standing on the hood. But once they pop that window Glass freaks out in a big way, clutching the knife and screaming. He appears to be in a complete panic and incoherent. Just looking straight forward, knife in hand next to his face with the blade not pointed at himself nor anyone else and just screaming in panic.

So they use the bean bag gun and then tase him and then shoot him.

It is clear to me that he was utterly and completely unable to follow instructions and that the police utterly and unnecessarily escalated the hell out of the situation.

Revisiting this one: The cop who was stood on the hood of the car pointing the gun at the mentally ill man - he left the department, got hired by a neighboring department and has now been promoted.

Deputy involved in Christian Glass call hired by nearby Georgetown Police

The wheels of justice move slowly - but they do move (sometimes). It has been about three years since they ordered Christian Glass to keep his hammer and knife in the car rather than throw them out the window as he suggested. Then they broke out the window, got in the car with him and shot him because, in the close quarters of the car, the knife was now a deadly threat.

Two have been convicted already, now six more charged.

Officer acquitted in Elijah McClain death gets job back and $200,000 in back pay

The Colorado officer who stopped Elijah McClain in 2019 and placed him in a neck hold was reinstated to the Aurora police department and will receive $200,000 in back pay, city officials said on Monday.

Nathan Woodyard’s “reintegration” into the police force comes weeks after a jury found him not guilty of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. Woodyard had been suspended without pay for two years since he was indicted for his role in the death of the 23-year-old. An Aurora spokesperson said city law mandated that the department offer him his job back after his acquittal in the criminal trial, and that he would receive $212,546 to cover the salary from his leave.

On 24 August 2019, McClain was walking home from buying iced tea at a convenience store and listening to music on headphones when a driver passing by called police, reporting that McClain “looks sketchy” and “might be a good person or a bad person”. McClain was wearing a ski mask, which he used to keep warm due to being anemic.

Although the 911 caller made clear that he did not see any weapons and that he was not in danger, nor was anyone else, police quickly responded with extreme force.

Woodyard was the first to confront McClain, body-camera footage showed, immediately grabbing him and shouting: “I have a right to stop you because you’re being suspicious.” Two other police officers, Randy Roedema and Jason Rosenblatt, soon arrived and with Woodyard surrounded him. McClain responded: “I’m an introvert. Please respect the boundaries that I’m speaking … I’m going home.”

The three forced McClain to the ground and placed him in a neck hold, while putting their combined body weight on top of him. McClain said “I can’t breathe” at least seven times. He vomited and lost and regained consciousness. The officers claimed that McClain, who was 5ft 7in and 140lbs , had “incredible strength” and falsely alleged he was “on something”. Paramedics who arrived injected him with 500mg of ketamine, a sedative. McClain then suffered a heart attack and never awoke.

Sometimes in these stories, the details can afford police some latitude in their overreactions. This is not one of those stories.

I can only hope that someone calls the police on this cop walking down the street, saying he may be looks suspicious, and he gets the same treatment from some concerned citizens, who are then awarded nearly a quarter million dollars for staying home watching Netflix and get there jobs and benefits back.

It was nothing less than murder, by the cops and paramedics. Shame on the jury for falling for whatever BS the defense team came up with.

No charges against officer who shot child that called 911

A grand jury in Mississippi determined that there was no criminal conduct on behalf of the officer who shot and wounded an 11-year-old boy in his home who had called authorities for help.

Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch says her office will take no further action against Sgt. Greg Capers, the officer who shot Aderrien Murry.

Capers' attorney, Michael Carr, said Capers is relieved at the decision and is "looking forward to getting back to work."

The move from the Mississippi Attorney General's Office comes nearly seven months after Murry was left seriously injured after Capers shot him in the chest responding to a 911 call that Murry had made.

Nakala Murry said she told her son to call the police after the father of one of her other children came to their home in the early hours of May 20 in an "irate" mood.

After arriving at the Murry family home, police instructed everyone inside to come out with their hands up. Nakala Murry says that when the 11-year-old emerged from around a corner, running toward the door. Capers then opened fire, according to the family.

Following the incident, Murry suffered a collapsed lung, fractured rib and lacerated liver.

This kid is going to be afraid of police for the rest of his life - afraid to call them when he or someone he knows needs help.

Officer Capers is excited about getting back to work, though.

Of course, he's back into a job where he can shoot at black people to his heart's content. And he's free and clear on any future incidents after the results of this one.

Looks like the other thread's behaving as badly as US police, so I'm starting this one. Hope the mods don't mind.

St. Louis police crashed an SUV into a gay bar then arrested the owners, and beat one of them, after demanding the couple produce ID. They say they swerved to avoid a dog and that one of the co-owners struck them while screaming obscenities.

Video shows there was no dog. So the cops then claimed they over corrected when trying to avoid striking a parked car. The video shows that's also a brazen lie, and that they were going at least 50 mph (and let off the brakes before hitting the building).

There is no word on why the police decided to demand ID from the owners, but there is also reportedly video of that interaction showing the cops ran at the men and used anti-gay slurs. The co-owner was charged with several offenses including felony assault of an officer. An offer to reduce to charges has been made, because of course.

How much you want to bet the drunk bigoted cops who have already repeatedly lied will see absolutely no accountability from the government?

Video shows the police SUV running a read light moments before the crash. (Alt link.)

The police confirm that neither officer was given a breathalyzer nor blood draw. Why? Now how will the story change to accommodate running a red light? Did they accelerate through it to avoid the parked car too, or does the ghost dog make a reappearance?

“I'm not an ‘Internationally Accredited' police department but I was able to get this video in less than 24 hours,” Khazeali wrote on Twitter. “Interested in the ‘investigation’ police are doing of their own.”

Khazeali is going to end up arrested for those shots fired. How long until he traces the SUV back to a bar?

Not linking to Twitter, but according to Khazeali the new story is that the officers were changing the radio station, which does nothing to explain running the red lights as there are now two videos of two lights. The New York Times article is paywalled, but the bystander video is reported by them as real and showing the misconduct claimed by the couple, apart from the beating in the ally which was only heard and the aftermath shown. It in fact shows even more misconduct than was reported as the bystander was also threatened.

EDIT: Oh, and the cops, who claim to be drastically understaffed, have had two police cruisers parked outside the bar for two days.

....St. Louis police crashed an SUV into a gay bar then arrested the owners, and beat one of them,

He should be glad they didn't beat him worse. Because then the fine upstanding police officers would have no choice but to charge him for getting blood on their uniforms.:rolleyes:

It took 2 cops to change the radio? And it still doesn't explain doing 50 through 2 intersections.

The police claim the black box says the SUV was going 'under 40' and then slowed to 20 before striking the building. Of course they don't say when it was doing 'under' 40. And you know, the cops have already lied repeatedly here.

Also the second red light run doesn't show the plates, so it could hypothetically be a different police SUV running a red light on the same night.

Don't traffic light cams take several pictures of the vehicle? Why not just look at the position of the truck in each frame and extrapolate the speed from there? In fact, I'm pretty sure that method is already used.

Because the video isn't coming from the traffic cams but from business cameras. The police almost certainly know the truth, but they're not releasing that information.

Are there any traffic cams at those lights?
