Thanks. Still don't really grasp it, but interest rate cut = good is something I can get behind.
Of course, people living on their savings, particularly on relatively low interest rates hate rate cuts as their returns reduce. I don’t have these concerns as our money is mainly in superannuation which has long term returns of about 8%. A 0.25% cut (even if it flows to super, which is often doesn’t) is not worth worrying about.Thanks. Still don't really grasp it, but interest rate cut = good is something I can get behind.
Billionaire Clive Palmer has launched a new political party inspired by the politics of US President Donald Trump, vowing to “Make Australia Great Again”.
The mining magnate is the chairman of his new party, Trumpet of Patriots, which will run on Trump-inspired policies and aims to sway voters away from the major parties as well as the Greens and teals.
Introducing Mr Palmer, party president Glenn O’Rourke said the Queensland rich lister would help “drain the swamp in Canberra”.
Speaking to a room packed with journalists at Parliament House in Canberra, Mr Palmer praised Mr Trump and said Trumpet of Patriots would rally for policies like a reduction in immigration, banning trans athletes, and rescinding Kevin Rudd’s posting as Australia’s ambassador to the US.
Or a tuba.I think I'm going to invest in a vuvuzela and show up whenever he's giving a speech to drown him out with my trumpet of patriotism.
Vuvuzelas are, believe it or not, funnier.Or a tuba.

Dutton wrongly says Labor is fast-tracking citizenship
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton made a series of unfounded claims about Gazan refugees in an interview on Thursday.www.theage.com.au
“Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has accused Labor of fast-tracking Australian citizenship for people who fled Gaza to win votes in marginal seats at the upcoming election, even though nobody who has fled the war-torn strip since 2023 is eligible for citizenship.”
These lies will not be brushed under the carpet by Aussie voters.
I’m more and more sure that Dutton will not win this unlosable election.
I hope you're right but I think you're wrong.I’m more and more sure that Dutton will not win this unlosable election.
I’m not saying Labor will win either, it’s just they will haveI hope you're right but I think you're wrong.

Other than noting that a hung parliament is a probable outcome (the betting is nearly 2:1 in favour of a hung parliament), I am not making any predictions.I hope you're right but I think you're wrong.
While I agree with that I feel like we do need to develop a nuclear industry simply because we're still supposed to be buying those stupid submarines. And if we have these submarines we need a way to fuel them without having to rely on another country.Well, modern gen 5 fast breeder reactors aren't particularly unsafe, they can use the spent fuel from older reactors as more fuel because they more efficiently get energy from it, and until recently I was a wholehearted supporter of nuclear power. But today, compared to renewables and battery storage, nuclear is just far too expensive and it will take too long to be useful.
