What are YOU doing to stop Trump?

While I realize that people have different priorities in discussions and I understand how tempting it is to point out the flaws in the Trumpists' moronic delusions, might I ever so very humbly suggest that doing so is maybe irrelevant to the topic of this thread? At least unless you can think of any good strategies for doing so on a widespread national scale...

Please don't feed the trolls.

Nope, this is the JREF forum. Regardless how obviously someone is trolling and just trying to derail the topic, people will go "hey, someone is wrong on the Internet, let me reply to them so everyone can see how smart I am!". It's ruined so many potentially good discussions, but still it's like a law of nature on here.

As a longtime Charlottesville resident, I can assure you that the locals knew full well who the Unite the Right protesters were going to be, and why they were coming. Previous "protests against tearing down a statue" that summer had conspicuously involved white supremacists, including the actual KKK, and anybody who followed the news expected the Unite the Right rally to involve even more of them. That is why the counter-protesters were there.

The "very fine people" who say they did not understand this are either liars or willful ignoramuses.

Omniscience comes with residency in Charlottesville? Who knew?

Since Trump wasn't a resident of Charlottesville and doesn't possess omniscience, he said exactly who he was and was not talking about.

I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists, okay?

"Politifact" is a Trumpsplaining Trump sycophant organization now?

There are many takes on Politifact, some are retarded, as has been demonstrated.

Trump clearly said disinfectant, then injection inside, almost a cleaning. I know he said that because I clearly heard him say that.

It's not the stupidest thing he ever said by a long shot though.

Omniscience comes with residency in Charlottesville? Who knew?

Well I did, obviously, being omniscient.

But let's set aside this bit of bad faith argumentation.

It didn't require omniscience to know who the involved parties were to be. The role of the KKK in previous "muh statues" protests was local news. The chatter of online groups made obvious who was planning and organizing to attend the Unite the Right rally, and their rhetoric made clear what was actually important to them. Richard Spencer was going to be there.

Again, it was common knowledge going in that this was going to be a ******** crawling with white supremacists. That's why there was so much security, why so many businesses were closing that day, and why there were counter-protesters. Local business owners I talked to on the Mall before the protest were putting up signs making clear their opposition to white supremacy, and one of them grumbled to me about wanting to punch Nazis.

Everybody knew.

He also said "light" before and after he said disinfectant, injection and cleaning. In what world is light considered bleach and inject considered drinking?

I'll admit what Trump said was disjointed and about as clear as mud, but to come away with the belief that he said to drink bleach is incredibly stupid. It's indefensible.

following Trump’s comments, the increase [in poisoning from household disinfectants] was 121% compared to April of 2019 link

This forum would be a ghost town if we did that.

No they didn't. Especially Trump, which he made crystal clear during the press conference. The one where said he was not talking about neo-Nazis and White nationalists.

Well, obviously I didn't mean literally *everybody*. I'm sure there were some people in Mongolia who didn't know, either.

Trump's self-serving denials are not the resource you think they are, and probably should not be taken at face value.

Also, "Trump didn't know something obvious" isn't exactly a flex.

Yes, he said light but he also said disinfectant. In the same sentence he said injection.

Nope, he didn't say drink bleach, he said to inject disinfectant. He is a stupid person, who also wondered if we could nuke a hurricane, to rake forests to combat climate-change forest fires, recommended debunked and dangerous COVID "cures" like horse paste and HCQ, and is now re-pimping conspiracy theories about medications and autism.

This **** is indefensible.

I listened to what Dump said. I can perfectly understand how some low-information people might have taken it to mean ingesting bleach. The fact that anyone seriously disputes this, or even the fact that someone as ignorant (I'm trying hard to not use stronger language) as Dump gave medical advice involving bleach in the first place, is just mindblowing to me.

It's one thing to like Dump, and to even label sites that tell uncomfortable truths as 'left wing **** lib', whatever that is supposed to mean, but honestly, is it really neccessary to defend or excuse everything that incompetent overgrown toddler says? Shouldn't his obedient followers know by now that no matter what he's talking about, he just says whatever comes to his mind? Or is it some weird kind of 'pwning the libs', where refusing to acknowledge even the most blatant mistakes and wrongdoings earns followers some kind of brownie points? Like Dump will welcome them at the Pearly Gates and reward them for their obedient faith in Him (I'm reminded of how they love to use the term 'virtue signalling', and how it applies so much better to them)?

The mind boggles.

Someone didn't read the article. I'll quote the relevant parts.
What’s harder to determine is how many people—if any—took his advice and in some way ingested the toxic chemicals.

Even before Trump’s comments, accidental poisonings from bleach and other disinfectants were on the rise from Jan. 1 to March 31 of this year,

Most of the poisonings were the result of inhalation of fumes...

Critically, association is not causation, and with a frightened public doing whatever it can to protect itself from the virus, the same increases in poisonings might have happened regardless of Trump’s remarks.

The article offers zero proof that the increase in accidental poisonings had **** all to do with Trump's comments. Is just a left-wing wank-fest meant to fool the gullible. You fell for it.

However, the article isn't completely worthless.
But the presidential megaphone is a powerful one, and even dangerous ideas projected through it can influence an awful lot of people.
Which had more influence, Trump''s press conference that very few people listened to or the lying media who put the lie on blast over and over and over for several days and weeks?

Yes, he said light but he also said disinfectant. In the same sentence he said injection.
Yes.

Covid is a lung infection. If a doctor places(injects) ultraviolet light into the lungs to kill the infection one may call it a disinfectant.

Just because you hear "bleach" when someone says disinfectant, doesn't mean the rest of the world does.

Nope, he didn't say drink bleach,
Exactly. Thanks for admitting that.

If this is directed me, your caricature of my beliefs is way off.

I will be the first to admit that Donald Trump says a lot, and I mean a loooot of really stupid **** that is indefensible or complete lies.

Drinking bleach and calling neo-Nazis and white nationalists very fine people are complete falsehoods that never happened.

Just because you hear "bleach" when someone says disinfectant, doesn't mean the rest of the world does.
I didn't hear bleach, I heard what he said. If he was talking about light, he would've said light. He said disinfectant that would be injected, then he talked about light. He said disinfectant because that's what he meant because he is so very stupid.

Exactly. Thanks for admitting that.
Of course, he clearly talked about injecting disinfectant, no matter how hard you attempt to trumpsplain this stupid man's stupid statements. Even Deborah Birx thought Trump's COVID response was a tragedy.

Birx said government scientists were asked to compare the impact of disinfectants on surfaces to sunlight in hopes of announcing that outdoor playgrounds were safe for children. But before the White House briefing, unbeknownst to her, an Oval Office conversation between Trump and the scientists shifted to the internal use of disinfectants — the scientists were the ones Trump was actually directing his comments to during the news briefing, she said.

Oxymoronic.
Gottaa love how some insults are allowed on this site while others are not

If Harris replaces Biden, that is another presidential voting hell and I'm voting for Chuck Norris. Think about it: if he's president, nobody would dare mess with us. We won't even need weapons; we'll just send him in.

The people who didn't want the statue removed, didn't hear chants of "the Jews will not replace us'' and the people who still want to protest even if some **** birds show up with Nazi flags.

You seem to be suggesting that this was just a run-of-the-mill innocuous protest and then a handful of Nazis showed up and ruined it for everybody. This is blatantly false. It was a white supremacist event widely advertised as a white supremacist event attended by hundreds of white supremacists and likeminded extremist groups loudly and proudly proclaiming themselves as white supremacists.

What your left with as “very fine people” are those that showed up to a white supremacist rally having no idea it was a white supremacist rally and then failing to notice all the white supremacists around them announcing that they are white supremacists and that this was their rally. It’s a preposterous argument.

Liar. You posted one sentence out of two paragraphs.

I posted a quote from Trump saying the exact thing that I claimed that he said.

From the link I posted earlier:

I would show you the video of the device Trump was referring to but left-wing activist corporation "YouTube" removed the video because they like to keep their compatriots ignorant and angry.

Trump backpedaling away from the thing he very clearly said does not change the fact that he very clearly said it.

Question what can Democratic and sane Republican state governors realistically do to confront the Federal government if the Mango Mussolini starts acting like a dictator?
