Trump's Second Term

CNN and NYT are liars. the raid was the most successful military strike in history says Donald.

@realDonaldTrump
FAKE NEWS CNN, TOGETHER WITH THE FAILING NEW YORK TIMES, HAVE TEAMED UP IN AN ATTEMPT TO DEMEAN ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL MILITARY STRIKES IN HISTORY. THE NUCLEAR SITES IN IRAN ARE COMPLETELY DESTROYED! BOTH THE TIIMES AND CNN ARE GETTING SLAMMED BY THE PUBLIC!

You seriously think Iran will have a free election? How sweet.

The cheerleading for Iran in this thread is astonishing. An insane
theocracy which has no problem executing massive numbers of their own citizens?
The antidote is not to double down on one's own myths and misinformation and engage in religious war, which is the case today wrt Iran, was the case in Iraq and Afghanistan. Neocon Christian nationalists arm-in-arm with Exodus Extremists have nothing to teach anyone, the lesson no one in power has understood since 2001.

From Vietnam to today in West Africa and the Middle East, Western powers and allies have made the exact same mistake of regarding magical thinking, alliances with local elites (in revealing self-emulation!), outright duplicity, and supposed ideological superiority as "strengths" in an effort to promote freedom and the rule of law, when they are in reality acid to the very roots of democracy and guarantors of authoritarianism.

Steve Witkoff: “We put 12 bunker buster bombs on Fordow. There's no doubt that it breached the canopy...and there's no doubt that it was OBLITERATED. So, the reporting out there that in some way suggests that we did not achieve the objective is just completely preposterous!”

Anyone who says the bombs were not devastating is just trying to undermine the President. Hegseth says so.

”Based on everything we have seen - and I've seen it all - our bombing campaign obliterated Iran's ability to create nuclear weapons. Our massive bombs hit exactly the right spot at each target and worked perfectly. The impact of those bombs is buried under a mountain of rubble in Iran; so anyone who says the bombs were not devastating is just trying to undermine the President and the successful mission," Hegseth told the outlet.

In a Time when the most prominent Democracy in the world, with the support of a large part of the Electorate, Media and Intelligenzia, is going Authoritarian big-time, it is at least a bit hypocritical to demand that another country should become more democratic.

The more prescient question is: what kind of government system would be best for the Iranians?
What is needed is probably a Technocratic government similar to China or Singapore to quickly elevate living standards and modernize the country without fearing too much about stepping on the toes of interest groups and losing the next election as a result.
I didn't know Germany was abandoning democracy.

The main problem with Iran isn't that the elections are unfair (which the are*) but that they are little more than opinion polls. Because the positionsbof power are not up for election.

But they have returned genuine opposition candidates to their parliament before now.

*Especially if too many of the "wrong" candidates had been elected in previous election, or were looking too strong.

Oh let’s think. One is a theocracy, one isn’t…….

Please refrain from crap like this.
I agree with you that the US isn't literally a theocracy, but the US under the American Taliban is not far from it.

Good boy.
Biden and Obama live in their heads rent free.

I find it delicious that the manosphere spends all its time kowtowing, dashing about frantically as their "true north" keeps spinning the compass needle.

Rick will have to tell them to put their money on 22 so they can finally get a win (and spend time in a bizarre version of Captain Renault's pay-to-play room, aka, on Grindr).

Iran has regular elections, the problem isn't the elections, it is the limited range of candidates allowed to stand. All the structures are in place. People are used to voting. If the clerics didn't have a veto on candidates you'd have a fully functioning democracy. Iran isn't a dictatorship, it is governed by a democratically elected parliamentary government, with an elected president. It is just the limited number of candidates who can be voted for is the problem.
