Trump's Second Term

And Trump doesn't understand that the European willingness to increase defence budgets is because the USA is seen as completely unreliable now and that the money won't be spent on US weapons.

Oh, yeah, that would be good. Keep some money circulating round European (geography rules) economies.

However, sodding Starmer has just announced buying more F35s to carry Merkinanian nuclear weapons.

◊◊◊◊'s sake.

What aircraft do you suggest is used?
The RAF and RN are already invested in the F-35

Those bastards at CNN and the NYT cheating again! TOTAL OBLITERATION!!!

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump
We just caught the Failing New York Times, working with Fake News CNN, cheating again! They tried to demean the great work our B-2 pilots did, and they were wrong in doing so. These reporters are just BAD AND SICK PEOPLE. You would think they would be proud of the great success we had, instead of trying to always make our Country look bad. TOTAL OBLITERATION!

It's funny in a bizarre way. Trump complained that our NATO allies weren't meeting their defense obligations. And he wasn't wrong about that. But now they are doing it because they don't trust the US as a NATO ally.

I think its a good idea for countries to find alternatives to American weapons producers. (Here in Canada, I hope we follow the same plan... making purchases from South Korea or Europe instead of the US.)

Unfortunately, the F35 is a little... problematic. So many countries either 1) paid into the development costs, 2) currently have contracts to produce parts of the planes, or 3) already purchased some planes. Furthermore, the F35 may currently be the best plane in its class and the best in terms of price/performance. We (meaning NATO and other western allies) may be stuck with the F35 until other nations play catch-up.

Yup, the UK designed their Carriers around the F-35 and put up 10% of F-35 development costs.

trump will be gone in a few years, F-35 will be in service for decades.

And I think it is too international to have the US end another countries supply of parts out of spite, because they could do the same to the US fleet of F-35's at least for some other nations.

No other president in history could have ever dreamed of such a success!

Leavitt: "No other president in history could have ever dreamed of such a success, and that's exactly why the fake news media is now trying to demean and undermine the president. We've seen this playbook before ... it's not a coincidence that it was written by the exact same CNN reporter who wrote the original story falsely alleging that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation."

Well let's see there isn't a practical alternative and BAE is a major contractor for the f-35 so this secures thousands of British jobs, but take heart, Trump would be proud of such a wonderfully ignorant rant.

She has the exact grasp of history I'd expect from a 27-year-old know nothing.

Not a Cult

"His instincts are uncanny. The President has incredible instincts about the right thing to do. When he says this is the direction I want to go, our job is not to spend the whole day trying to change his mind... Our job is to execute on the President's vision based on really uncanny instincts."

There are two options here: Either they realize how they come across to the people outside of the cult, or... They don't. If it's the former, I get them committing themselves fully to the cult. To the outside world they're a bunch of authoritarian-loving, boot-licking (insert long string of diamond-censored words). If it's the latter, that's pretty sad.

Today I was talking about this with my longest time friend at work who's Iranian and very secular*

He pointed out that Mossad was able to get a lot of help in Iran because the people hate the regime so much. For example, the drone strikes on the air defences. Iran isn't a closed society and he does show me quite a few memes and videos against the regime, many from inside Iran.

*for 19 years before COVID and hybrid working we'd have Friday breakfast together and he'd go for bacon sandwiches)

5% NATO spending is, actually, stupid. If actually implemented, Europe would soon have a bigger and better military than the US.
The problem Europe has is a lack of troops - without them, it kinda doesn't matter what expensive toys you buy for them.

Have you ever tried to rent a nuke from the French? They cost at least as much as 7 Peugeots and the maintenance is even more!
