Trump's Second Term

In terms of jobs Typhoons vs F35A; Typhoons win. Politically it may be necessary to buy ten F35A. F35A does have some advantages over Typhoons, not speed or range or air to air combat, but a slightly bigger payload and better stealth capability for a first strike capability. I am not sure how much interoperability there is between the F35B the RAF / RNAS have and F35A. Bur the RAF could justify having F35A since they dumped the jaguar and vulcans which could have done the job.

Vulcans are 1940s designs and were completely worn out by the time they did the 'Black Buck' attack missions over the Falklands.

Jaguar could never do strike missions, it's was a repurposed trainer that happened to be very good at low level attack.

8AM conference for Hegseth to fight for the dignity of Great American Pilots.
It's all about demeaning Donald apparently.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump
Secretary of Defense (War!) Pete Hegseth, together with Military Representatives, will be holding a Major News Conference tomorrow morning at 8 A.M. EST at The Pentagon, in order to fight for the Dignity of our Great American Pilots. These Patriots were very upset! After 36 hours of dangerously flying through Enemy Territory, they landed, they knew the Success was LEGENDARY, and then, two days later, they started reading Fake News by CNN and The Failing New York Times.
They felt terribly! Fortunately for them and, as usual, solely for the purpose of demeaning PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP, the Fake News (Times and CNN) lied and totally misrepresented the Facts, none of which they had (because it was too soon, there were no Facts out there yet!). The News Conference will prove both interesting and irrefutable.
Enjoy!

Why America's giant bunker-busting bombs may have failed to reach their target

The article goes on to explain the math, physics and geology of why the bombings probably DIDN'T do much harm to the underground facilities. Please read the whole article.

Here's some of it below:

Yup.

Simple maths and the fact that although they are murderous idiots, the Iranians aren't completely incompetent and with a granite mountain means they could plan their building with such bombs in mind
Exactly. I'd say that the Disney Bomb was the MOP ancestor; it was tested on U Boat pens immediately after the Second World War and could penetrate several metres of concrete. But not even 15m.

Presumably the MOP has better performance, but the Iranians would have been remiss to not have chosen the complex design with such bombs in mind. And underneath a mountain, it's probably only the entrances that are vulnerable. And those have been recently filled with dirt - one theory is to prevent Israeli commando raids.

"His instincts are uncanny. The President has incredible instincts about the right thing to do. When he says this is the direction I want to go, our job is not to spend the whole day trying to change his mind... Our job is to execute on the President's vision based on really uncanny instincts."
Technically, I have no objection to this statement. It's just that those instincts are incredibly and uncannily terrible for the US. The main "good" spin for how great they are is if one is assuming that they're all about keeping the spotlight on him to feed his narcissism.

However, sodding Starmer has just announced buying more F35s to carry Merkinanian nuclear weapons.
Denmark also goes ahead with buying F-35s. This is partly because of hope that the U.S. might get another president, but also out of fear that th U.S. will keep the current president.
Unfortunately, the F35 is a little... problematic. So many countries either 1) paid into the development costs, 2) currently have contracts to produce parts of the planes, or 3) already purchased some planes. Furthermore, the F35 may currently be the best plane in its class and the best in terms of price/performance. We (meaning NATO and other western allies) may be stuck with the F35 until other nations play catch-up.
There is a fear that the U.S. has a “kill switch” built into F-35 so that they’ll stop working if used against the wishes of the U.S. president.

Imagine flying into enemy-controlled airspace and finding out that your invisibility button is unresponsive.

A simple measure could also be to understate the depth of the bunker, for instance by “bragging” that the bunkers are at a depth of 90 meters, when in fact they are at 120 meters. That could mess up with an enemy’s plan to bomb them.

More about the Iranian bunkers:

In a First, America Dropped 30,000-Pound Bunker-Busters—But Iran’s Concrete May Be Unbreakable, Scientists Say

It's a long but interesting story about how concrete technology has outpaced bunker-busting bomb technology.
Who could have foreseen that a country that's been threatened with exactly this sort of attack for years would have taken measures to do something about it. And now with Trump turning on anyone who suggests the raid wasn't the greatest military success in history no one will dare suggest carrying out another wave of attacks.

Trump says Israel sent agents into Iran’s Fordo nuclear site, saw ‘total obliteration’

President says US will strike again if Iran tries to revive enrichment, but is sure that won’t be necessary; hails ceasefire and reports ‘great progress’ toward Gaza hostage-truce deal
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday suggested that Israel sent agents to Iran’s Fordo nuclear site after US struck it earlier this week, insisting the attack was a success and warning that he was willing to strike again if Iran tried to revive its enrichment program.

“You know they have guys that go in there after the hit, and they said it was total obliteration,” Trump told reporters at the NATO summit in The Hague, speaking about the bombing of Fordo.

“Israel is doing a report on it now, I understand, and I was told that they said it was total obliteration. I believe it was total obliteration, and I believe they didn’t have a chance to get anything out because we acted fast.”

Right. Israeli agents just sauntered in there and verified that everything was destroyed! Yeah, sure, ya betcha!

And when he said this at the NATO summit, everyone just looked at each other asking themselves "How totally ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ stupid and insane is this ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ clown???"

Well, this ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ clown really is totally ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ stupid and insane! And he believes that everyone will swallow this whopper hook, line and sinker!

If he doesn't choke to death on a Big Mac soon, we're all doomed.

Although 30m would still probably be sufficient with a massive safety margin

I find Trump's BDA to be highly questionable. I remember reading how impossible it was for the allies to destroy the flak towers in Berlin, Hamburg and Vienna. None of these towers were destroyed during the war. And each was expensive as hell to demolish after the war by demolition experts. They drilled thousands of holes and used hundred of tons of dynamite. The bases of those towers were 3.5 meters thick. One of the towers in Berlin is still standing as are all 6 in Vienna. Concrete today is many times stronger than it was 50 years.

Oh let’s think. One is a theocracy, one isn’t…….
Really.
Kari Lake responding to tough questions in the House Foreign Affairs Committee by holding up a picture of Donald Trump
Leavitt: "No other president in history could have ever dreamed of such a success, and that's exactly why the fake news media is now trying to demean and undermine the president. We've seen this playbook before ... it's not a coincidence that it was written by the exact same CNN reporter who wrote the original story falsely alleging that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation."

That certainly looks like worship to me.

On the one hand, I understand that NATO needs the US and to get the US one has to butter up the President, but this actually makes me feel a little queasy:

At Mr Rutte's meeting with Mr Trump, he was asked about what he thought about the commander-in-chief's use of the f-word when describing Israel and Iran.

Mr Trump said that the two countries "had a big fight, like two kids in a schoolyard".

Mr Rutte's response was light-hearted but telling.

"Daddy has to sometimes use strong language."

Donald demands that Israel drop all court proceedings against "Great War Time Prime Minister" Netanyahu.

BREAKING NEWS…I was shocked to hear that the State of Israel, which has just had one of its Greatest Moments in History, and is strongly led by Bibi Netanyahu, is continuing its ridiculous Witch Hunt against their Great War Time Prime Minister! Bibi and I just went through HELL together, fighting a very tough and brilliant longtime enemy of Israel, Iran, and Bibi could not have been better, sharper, or stronger in his LOVE for the incredible Holy Land. Anybody else would have suffered losses, embarrassment, and chaos! Bibi Netanyahu was a WARRIOR, like perhaps no other Warrior in the History of Israel, and the result was something that nobody thought was possible, a complete elimination of potentially one of the biggest and most powerful Nuclear Weapons anywhere in the World, and it was going to happen, SOON! We were fighting, literally, for the Survival of Israel, and there is nobody in Israel’s History that fought harder or more competently than Bibi Netanyahu. Despite all of this, I just learned that Bibi has been summoned to Court on Monday for the continuation of this long running, (He has been going through this “Horror Show” since May of 2020 – Unheard of! This is the first time a sitting Israeli Prime Minister has ever been on trial.), politically motivated case, “concerning cigars, a Bugs Bunny doll, and numerous other unfair charges” in order to do him great harm. Such a WITCH HUNT, for a man who has given so much, is unthinkable to me. He deserves much better than this, and so does the State of Israel. Bibi Netanyahu’s trial should be CANCELLED, IMMEDIATELY, or a Pardon given to a Great Hero, who has done so much for the State. Perhaps there is no one that I know who could have worked in better harmony with the President of the United States, ME, than Bibi Netanyahu. It was the United States of America that saved Israel, and now it is going to be the United States of America that saves Bibi Netanyahu. THIS TRAVESTY OF “JUSTICE” CAN NOT BE ALLOWED!

Absolutely NOT a Trump post. Not by a long shot. Trump was probably golfing or off wanking in the Situation Room when that was written and posted. It's a Trump Team PR effort, quite possibly assisted by Israeli AI.

What staggers me about Trump is the combination of how much he brags. And just how far up his ass that members of his administration as well as other politicians will stick their tongues. It's like a contest between these sycophants.
