Project 2025

So you have totally lost faith in the American People. I think the graphics of the roundups will be horrible, and change many people'sminds.
Yop know, suspect your real anger with the American people is they are not as far to the left as ypu would like..and that goes a long way before Trump.

It seems to me that you are presuming the continued existence of a Free Press. Putin-style censorship/control of all media is high on the agenda- do you think that they will permit these images to leak? And if they do, the claim of Fake News has worked like a charm so far.

If you want to know that the (mostly self-identified) resisters are getting up to on Bluesky, there is a starter pack.

The USA is not Russia. Russia never had a real free press. \
In an age where everybody has a cell phone capable of taking photos, how can the images not leak.
And, frankly, even some in the GOP will balk at throwing Free Speech out the window.
I repeat, the US is not Russia.

Everyone in Russia and China is having cell phones too.

not yet. the kleoptocrats haven't taken office yet. that's in january.

Then why did the USA vote a Russian asset as president? And a Russian mouthpiece as a senior cabinet member?

So if not Russia, would you say the USA is closer to being Belarus? That is, a Russian haemorrhoid?

Trans gender care in Texas going to Supreme Court.
Next summer: There is no problem here for Alito. "The inescapable conclusion is that trans-gender care is not deeply rooted in the Nation's history and traditions."

Poject 25 lords check off box on to do list.

Lest we forget, Dump's fascism has already reached the level of ripping asylum seekers' kids from their parents and putting them in cages, and still he won re-election. Same with Dubya after they started literally torturing people. Rounding up lots of brown people who will all be branded as 'illegals'? It'll cause outrage, but I doubt it'll register more than the other horrible stuff he's done so far.

Remember, Dump's fascist regime will start off at the level of concentration camps, armed police brutalizing and kidnapping peaceful protesters, and a bloody coup.
Edit: A year from now we'll probably have one side going "I can't believe Trump Youth just ran amok for a whole night smashing the windows of immigrant mom and pop shops!", and the other side going "Where were you when black people burned down cities in 2020, huh?!"

It's important to note that a considerable percentage of almost any population supports these sorts of measures. Not so much on this message board, but poll any sizable random group and you're likely to find a lot of people aren't against arbitrary detention, torture, and even summary execution of members of unpopular groups.

On recent example is the killing of Brian Thompson (CEO of United Healthcare) [Wikipedia], which was largely met with a rather muted response.

Doubt that. Maybe the US population. Of course, it's always "someone else" who is the problem. But when the leopards come to eat their faces, they get a rude awakening.

I disagree. Look at the rise of right-wing populist parties in Europe.

What we really need is the poll I suggested. Unfortunately I can't afford to pay for one. There may be, however, some sociological studies on this topic. If I find time and maintain my interest in this I'll look foe some.

I agree. History shows us this. To think it's unique to the US is ignoring history.

Funny how it all worked out once trump took office
When Donnie Diapers said he didn't know anything about Project 2025, the maga wierdos nodded in unison. The uninformed casual voters shrugged and asked "Whut's that?" and that was the extent of their inquiry. The rest of us knew DD was full of ◊◊◊◊, but that's little solace now that he's going to implement every last authoritarin bit of it. If it can be undone at all, it will take generations to do so. I used to think history would expose the sociopathic, criminal narcissist maniac for what he is, but as we know, history is written by the victors, and right now, maga weirdos are the victors. It may be that the non-weirdo Trump voters might come to their senses, but given the last voting cycle, I see no evidence, nor feel any confidence in that hypothesis.

Trump said he hadn’t read Project 2025 – but most of his early executive actions overlap with its proposals:
A CNN analysis of the 53 executive orders and actions from Trump’s first week in office found that more than two-thirds – 36 – evoke proposals outlined in “Mandate for Leadership,” Project 2025’s 922-page blueprint for the next Republican president.

A special shoutout to all the astute political minds in this thread who told us this wouldn't happen.

Great job, folks. You are the best and the brightest this forum has to offer.

The first lines of this thread: Trump "I know nothing about project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they're saying and some of the things they're saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them."
