Plane Crash In DC

So far Donald has blamed the crash on Barack Obama, Joe Biden, the Democratic Party, Pete Buttigieg, the 2020 election, and diversity.

No facts presented and no condolences offered.
Standard Trump. Those, here and elsewhere, who voted for him think it is the correct approach.

This is incredibly irresponsible. Aside from the tone-deafness of the remarks, a high-level elected official with no relevant experience should not be placing blame on individuals in the absence of actual evidence of causality. Not only does this risk putting innocent people at risk of mob reprisals, it creates an incentive to find for operator error instead of addressing the much more likely systemic causes of this accident.
The thing is, the nazis in the positions of power likely want the paediatricians to be misidentified as paedophiles. They don't care about collateral damage as long as they can keep their followers in a permanent state of anger.

This shocking event follows problematic and likely illegal decisions during the Obama and Biden Administrations that minimized merit and competence in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The Obama Administration implemented a biographical questionnaire at the FAA to shift the hiring focus away from objective aptitude.
During my first term, my Administration raised standards to achieve the highest standards of safety and excellence.
But the Biden Administration egregiously rejected merit-based hiring, requiring all executive departments and agencies to implement dangerous "diversity equity and inclusion" tactics, and specifically recruiting individuals with "severe intellectual" disabilities in the FAA.

As usual, Blancolirio offers very good commentary from an expert point of view, and avoids unnecessary speculation. What he doesn't touch on (but probably will when he can) is the capacity creep that has plagued both the military and civilian traffic. This is an inherently gnarly traffic-control problem, and under pressure from government officials there has been a steady relaxation of ordinary capacity constraints. While we will almost certainly identify errors on the part of various humans involved, this accident could be considered inevitable.
Indeed. Preliminary report says there was only one controller for both departures and arrivals, which is not the norm. It also mentions overall under-staffing in ATC everywhere.

"All I want is the most competent people in our country to be air traffic controllers. It's a very important position. And other positions too, by the way. We're not only talking about that, but air traffic controllers maybe in particular. They have to be brilliant with computers, brilliant with graphics."

◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ lying ass ◊◊◊◊◊◊ will continue to be a lying ass ◊◊◊◊◊◊ until he is dead, which can't come too soon. Now, when will the legacy media call this ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ bull ◊◊◊◊ out, as is their job? When will the dems quit capitulating and grow some testicles? +/- 45% of the U.S. voting public swallow every drop of (fill in the blank) that oozes from this lying ass ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ mouth. And it's only just begun. I wonder when the credulous trumpsuckers on this board will attempt to gaslight apologetics for the ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ lying ass ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ bull ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ ◊◊◊◊?

That's an astoundingly easy thing to do with aircraft at night.
For sure. Which begs the question what are the rules for visual separations. Surely it's not just "I see him, thus I can get as close as I want, even if he has no idea I'm here".

Height deconfliction is impossible in area where both planes and helicopters change altitude, and you can't assign enough separation at 400ft anyway. Both air space just should not overlap at all. The hangars themselves (and Marine one hangar is one of them) are separated enough .. but why are the helos allowed to go south right into the approach path of the airport is beyond me.

A second EO from trump

THE WHITE HOUSE
Consistent with the Presidential Memorandum of January 21, 2025 (Keeping Americans Safe in Aviation), I am further ordering the Secretary of Transportation (Secretary) and the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (Administrator) to review all hiring decisions and changes to safety protocols made during the prior 4 years, and to take such corrective action as necessary to achieve uncompromised aviation safety, including the replacement of any individuals who do not meet qualification standards. This review shall include a systematic assessment of any deterioration in hiring standards and aviation safety standards and protocols during the Biden Administration.

Even less air controllers I guess. But to be fair, reaction to that should be rising the money, raising landing fees and straight out closing the airfields. Not lowering the standards.

And the first Trump administration did nothing to change this.

During my first term, my Administration raised standards to achieve the highest standards of safety and excellence.
Factually false. The qualifications for FAA operational personnel haven't changed since 2013.

But the Biden Administration egregiously rejected merit-based hiring, requiring all executive departments and agencies to implement dangerous "diversity equity and inclusion" tactics, and specifically recruiting individuals with "severe intellectual" disabilities in the FAA.
Factually false.
