We're waiting for you to agree to one of the proposed test protocols (mine, using a webcam as you originally suggested, or Cuddles', which doesn't require a webcam and is therefore easier to set up) or propose one of your own.

Then you and Cuddles need to agree what the six sentences will be.

Then we need to fix a time when you, eirik and Cuddles are all available to take part.

Then you can all log on here at that time and run the test.

1*6-sided die
1*internet

1) MC picks 6 sentences of 10 words each, from a book for example.
2) The sentences are posted publically in a numbered list.
3) MC rolls a standard six-sided die and sends the matching sentence to abr in a PM.
4) abr sends sentence psychically to reciever.*
5) Reciever PMs MC the number of the sentence he has recieved.
6) Steps 1-4 are repeated 10 times using different sets of sentences.
7) Profit!

It is important that there can be no communication between abr and the volunteer at all (other than psychically of course). Since it would be extremely easy for abr to simply PM the volunteer, or talk to them outside the forum, the volunteer would need to be just as trusted as the MC.
Since this would be a very basic preliminary test, there is no set level for passing. I would consider 3/10 or more to be interesting, but given the lack of decent controls even 10/10 wouldn't really prove anything.

Pixel42 and Cuddles, I second that. This protocol sounds simple and easy to set up. (also, I don't have a webcam)

I agree that cheating is easy if I was to collaborate with abr. This boils down to trust, and is this is the weak point in this protocol. But it's as far as I can see the best we can do on a public fora, and I think it will be a interesting experience. Anyone can check my posting history, and observers can PM me if they want my contact info. If I am to participate in this test it wil probably not be a good idea for me to be further involved in protocol design.

Anyway, if the test is succesfull, I will provide a notarized affidavit for abr for his application in the MDC. I am a lawyer, so it's gotta be worth something...:D

I have to say I am impressed by abrs efforts if the test is carried out. That would be a sensible and sincere approach to his abilties that we not often see around here. Good luck abr!
 
Suggestion: no sentences, just words. There should be no wiggle room for judgement "well, the sentence was about animals, and the receiver said something about Mcdonald's, which is the name of a farmer, so it's a hit"

abr thinks "horse" to the receiver.
If receiver writes anything but "horse" its a fail. "Pony" is a fail. "Colt" is a fail. "equine" is a fail.

Or for even less room for argument, how about the numbers 1-10?

Methinks this is going down the same slippery slope as all the other paranormal claims in this section of the forum.

Which rules? There have been at least two different protocols given here, and several questions have been asked that you need to answer before either of them could be carried out.

This should not be a problem. Just send what you want to post on the thread telepathically to one of the members, and get them to post the message. Hell, I will even volunteer to receive your message myself.

Or is telepathy subject to ISP failure as well?

The test cannot begin UNTIL YOU HAVE AGREED TO THE RULES! I apologize for shouting, but there have been at least two sets of rules proposed and you have not chosen either one of them.
