Notable Passings and other milestones

Not to mention he was the son of Carl Reiner, creator of the Dick van Dyke Show, the star of which reached 100 this year.

Coincidence? That's what they want you to believe... :duck:

He was in The Rockford Files
Episode 15 of Series 2 'The No-Cut Contract'

This guy is one sick puppy. He makes everything about him. Even if it has nothing to do with him.

When Marjorie Taylor Greene’s response is far more sane and compassionate you have to know something is wrong….

Similarly, US House member Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, wrote: “This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies.”

Greene also seemingly alluded to Nick Reiner’s past experiences with addiction and homelessness, writing, “Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues. It’s incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy especially when it ends in murder.”

Anthony Geary of "Luke and Laura" General Hospital soap fame, at 78. I remember my Mom watching their silly wedding and it turned out to be one of the most-watched daytime episodes of all time.

If the crazy was all an act for political opportunism then she still deserves zero respect.
I don't respect her for the opportunism. But I must respect her for putting that behind her. Do I respect her as much as I do for individuals who never sold their souls for 30 pieces of silver? Hard to say. Yes and no.

I think you have to look at the circumstances. She walked away from money and power. Most people don't. I would definitely respect her more if she remained in Congress as an obstacle to Trump. Also, some people are immune to certain temptations. For example, I have never felt tempted by drugs or alcohol. Do I deserve as much credit for turning down offers to partake in them as alcoholics who maintain sobriety and ex-addicts? I really don't think so.

Or it's all still an act.

I think it very well might of been an act when she went full blown MAGA. In fact, I definitely think it was. But not walking away. How does standing up to Trump and resigning her deep red seat in Congress benefit her? I don't see it. You think she could run for Governor in Georgia?

I suspect Marj worked out there was very likely a lengthy jail term in store for her at the end of the MAGA road. And before that, her "zenith" in politics was past. Nothing more for her there, and she always keeps an eye out for her next "opportunity". Being such a rank opportunist, the rat deserted the ship early. I foretell a best-selling tell-all biography in her near future!

Maybe. But for what? She was a Congress person. Not part of White House Staff or the Cabinet. It's weird of me to defend her. I have always thought she was both a racist and somewhat nuts. No, I don't think that's the reason. The book though is a high probability.

Not now she got on Trump's bad side. She would have been primaried next opportunity that had.

Yep. Expendable. "Nut case" Marj! Easy target.

She clearly is. She was pushing the Epstein files barrow not because she wanted the troof about Trump, but because she was certain it would validate Ping Pong Pizza adrenochrome parlours, and Killary, and all the other Qanon garbage she spouted.

She is indeed nuts. But she is also reasonably intelligent and has some nous. Give her her due, she has run some fitness gyms, i.e. a small/medium business (although it would appear it was also a toy-boy stable, but anyhoo...). I suspect she saw some writing on a wall somewhere, especially after the Trump boys told her she was no longer on their team for contradicting Big Don. The book thing would come as no surprise. Nor would local or state government involvement.

All of that is very true. Except I think her career in government is over. You can't walk down the center lane of a highway for very long before you get hit. She is not attractive to either party now.

Positioning herself for the inevitable downfall of Donald and distancing herself from the MAGA fanatics.
They have served their purpose, changing direction is the sensible thing if you want to come out of the other side with some chance of future influence and power in the Party.

I don't buy it. What you're talking about takes way too much time. She was never particularly liked in the party. She never built any kind of coalition of Republicans that would follow her. But who knows? I certainly don't.
