Frank Gehry, one of the most influential architects of the last century, has died aged 96.
Very sad! I got to see the Disney Concert Hall under construction, meaning I got to see the structural steelwork underneath those flowing surfaces. I was amazed (but not really) to learn that his team used the same software package that is used to design airliners and other airplanes.

I think the last thing he did was a Radio 4 whodunnit series set around an old folks home.

I listened, as I remember it was quite good.

Rob Reiner was a lovely man. I spoke to him last night for over an hour. I always enjoyed his company. I met him at his Dad's in 1975. He was telling me about fiming at Stonehenge and his thoughts for the future. This is so awful. I shall miss him. A clever, talented and very thoughtful man. So awful

I had to have someone tell me who he was, even though he directed one of my favourite movies. I very, very rarely pay attention to directors. Name a movie and I will undoubtedly fail to tell you who directed it.

Unless it's, you know, Star Wars, or one of Spielberg's.

He also played Michael "Meathead" Stivic, Achie Bunker's liberal son-in-law on the iconic 70s sitcom "All In the Family".
