Seriously. Whatever the source, it's an annotation. Switch them off in the YouTube settings. It should go away.

AFAIK, ad blockers do not fiddle with annotations. Could be wrong though.
 
Youtube and a lot of other ads can usually be turned off (although in some cases it's impossible, like in the Youtube app of a smart TV or something). In those cases where I can't avoid ads, I've been stoically tolerating them while making a mental note: DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT. I hope to lead a worldwide movement that will eventually make advertising harmful for the advertised companies.

I heartily agree - unless the ad is really funny or really neat in other ways. This means app. 92 % of all ads would be harmful for the product based on not being funny or neat/interesting.

The kids and I have this very (do not buy from this advertiser spoiling my enjoyment of this video) rule. I'm in, the kids too when you start the recruitment drive for your movement.
 
I often reply randomly, just to improve the confusion!!!!!! And other times just because I can!!!!!!!

I watch YT all the time. I've never seen an ad, overlay or any other unwanted intrusion, ever. I was surprised to recently learn that YT even had ads.
 
So since YouTube is one of the sites that offers paid subscription instead of ads, I wonder how all the adblock users in this thread justify their use of adblockers?

BS. You have the control to not use their product. It is ridiculous that you are comparing a voluntary exchange of services as "rape".

And any data aggregator would be suicidal to sell their information to third parties, they sell the ability to use their services for marketing based on that data.

And you are paying for the server farms that host the content you are watching.

That's a pretty bold claim.

As to the OP, I had this happen when I was looking up some info on a car I was thinking about buying. I think I posted a thread here about the problem I was having and got some pretty good advice that really helped. I wasn't sure if I should get the normally aspirated straight six in the one series or the turbo six. The boys in Bavaria are better known for their normally aspirated engines, but their turbos are getting good reviews. To help with the decision I looked at a lot of review videos on YouTube and had no end of frustration with the idiotic advertising. I get that Chris Harris has to buy gas to hoon these beasts around and someone is paying for Jason Torchinsky to babble on about useless VW trivia in a review for a BMW, but the damn ads were infuriating. In the end, I decide not to replace my trusty vehicle just yet. I found that the ads disappeared once I started using an ad blocker.

Can't speak for anyone else but I don't find the need to justify my use of a legal utility any more than I'd expect you to justify switching channels when the commercials come on.
 
I am running adblocker and I see no ads.

Whatever it is you're running, it's not working for you.

Adapt.
 
The OP's rage seems very disproportionate considering that the ad in question consists of a tiny white block with text in it, takes up a small area in one corner of the video and lasts for a total of 5 seconds before disappearing.

It's Google, and whenever Google tries to turn a profit it means that they're evil...to be fair, I don't know if the OP follows this pattern but it seems at the heart of so many Google complaints I see online.

I get ad-free (sort of, since a great many of those who post videos shove ads into their videos...but those are okay I guess?) YouTube Red because I consider Google's streaming music service the top of the line for my purposes. $10/month is truly a bargain as far as I'm concerned.
