No. And I don't like guns, I don't want people around me armed with them and so on but still I don't think they should be outlawed. However I do think they should be controlled - so for example no convicted criminals should be able to legally own a gun, all guns should be registered, there are set conditions on how they can be stored and transported and so on.
I live in a country with a high level of guncontrol.
The only way you get to (legally) use a handgun is if you're a member of a gun club (competition, target) and in order to own a handgun the gun club must first issue an approval (which usually takes a high level of mastery and regular attendance to tournaments).
That said, I like target practice with handguns, and I was an active member in a gun club for several years when I was younger but I quit due to a shoulder injury which prevented me from using my left hand for singelhand shooting and the fact that i moved away from my hometown.
I am in favor of at least a minimum of gun control. As in:
In order to own a gun you should
1. Not be a convicted criminal. (felony)
2. Have a safe place to store your weapon and ammunition.
3. Know how to shoot and handle your weapon safely.
4. Know how to clean and maintain your weapon.
Then again I am not an american so my opinion doesn't really count towards the gun controll issue in america.
