Conspiracism as a Way of Life
Au contraire! Jonathan Kay points out that conspiracism is a way of life for many people. The Birthers, Truthers, HAARPists, etc. all have many veterans in their ranks who go back to the JFK assassination. Many have sacrificed their careers to conspiracism, and gone completely off the deep end. Richard Gage, for instance. Prof. Moret is just one more name on the list.
Others would include:
"No-Planer" Prof. Morgan Reynolds. Once upon a time, an economist published by the Cato Institute, and a speaker at their confabs. He won't be getting any more invitations.
The "Birther Colonel" Terry Lakin. Once upon a time, he was set to make the big 20-year jump from Lt. Colonel to full Colonel. Instead, he wound up doing a stretch in Leavenworth and threw away his pension and his medical career.
Mort Sahl, who once was a very funny comedian who threw away his career to expose the dark and sinister forces who control the government and assassinated JFK. Almost 50 years later, he's still working on it. (Am I the only one who noticed the strong resemblance between Sahl and Lee Harvey Oswald?)
