I have had the same recurring dream for years. I expect it's fairly common becasue I've seen it used as a gag in a movie.

I'm 2 or 3 credits away from college graduation. It's the final exam day, and I've skipped every class all semester. I know I'm going to flunk the course, and not graduate.
Hi JJ,

We're not going to do this one because it's so short, but I will let you know that you are correct, this dream is very common. Beginning new classes or taking an exam is brought on by a waking sense that you are being held to some higher standards. If you know you will flunk the exam, the suggestion is that deep down you are missing important information and learning experiences. You may need to slow down and rework your ideas, before moving on to the next phase (in the waking situation or idea this refers to).

Hope this helps.

Julia Finley, I used to have a recurring dream where I start out far inland and leave the house and begin walking on my own several miles toward the shore, passing different types of natural landscape, forests, rivers, to the beach. I would then go into the sea and under the water and far into the middle of the ocean, and as I'm spending more time in the sea my body gradually transforms into a mermaid. At the beginning it is very difficult, to not drown or die from the cold, but gradually every aspect adapts and toward the end of the dream I am merged with the sea, with the vastness and the depth and the dark and the endless and timeless, that is far away from anything small that we humans try to make home.
Hi hon,
Dreams of the beach represent the threshold between what is known, grounding, and familiar (the beach) and what is unknown, untested, and possible (the sea). The sea then symbolically represents new life experiences, which serves to shape us, "rinse" our thought forms, and make us whole new beings.

The house you begin in is the identity you were most comfortable with, founded on the ideas, beliefs, and opinions that you find familiar. When you become a mermaid in the sea, the implication is that you are learning to navigate untried circumstances beautifully, thus discovering a new feature of your own nature.

Julia, I really need to ask, what exactly do you think that you can do that will fit within the parameters of the $1 Million challenge, or are you simply doing this to promote your website?

If the former, please explain, if the latter, what you are doing is considered spam, and frowned upon here. Please clarify?

guy above said:
You couldn't possibly know what the sea means to me. I would imagine that to most people, this dream that I had would be scary, would indicate being far from your safe home and all alone and drowning, but to me it isn't like that.

I then found out that to me this dream means finding myself and my consciousness and subconscious, something we all go through in our youth, which is when I had that dream. The ocean is my mind, soul, and the dream involves moving away from the world around you to instead go within yourself to find the you that is independent of the world around you or even your own body, and to simply feel who you are and find yourself. When I interpreted the dream that way, it felt right to me. And as soon as I had, the dreams stopped occurring.
....

...You know what? I'm pulling the plug on this.
who ever moderates, close this thread. thanks.

Ok, here is my dream. I had it last Saturday.

I am walking in a mountain. It is a mountain covered by woods. I am following a sort of dirt road or wide path. I am going up, following my brother, who is much higher, I can barely see him.

The path is interrupted by a river. I cross the river jumping over some stones. When I am in the middle of the river over a big stone, I hear my father's voice warning me: "turn around slowly". I do turn around very slowly and I see a pack a wolves looking at me from the side of the river where I came from. My father is somewhere behind, not very visible, and he is not in danger. The one in danger is me. The wolves are clearly hungry (the look skinny) and they were clearly hunting me, following my track.

Still standing in a stone in the middle of the river, I evaluate all my possibilities, for some reason, I don't have a route of escape. So I decide to make a last stand. I think the river is not a good place to face the wolves, so I decide to fight the wolves in their side of the river. I charge the wolves with a battle cry. In that moment I woke up very excited.

I wait for your interpretations.

The problem with dream interpretation is that, although the broad strokes of dreams have a commonality, the details of dreams are different for different people. It's therefore impossible to properly interpret dreams unless you are in ongoing therapy, so that the therapist can get to know you and understand what part of your life a particular dream addresses.

Without this ongoing relationship between therapist and patient all you will get are the sort of vague generalities that come from cold reading.

Normally I would frown upon including a link to a business within a thread but in the case I don't have a problem with it. Better that there are a few real reviews to compliment the site's gushing testimonials.

Now I'll never know what my recurring dream about flying a cigar through the hole of a giant bagel is supposed to mean.:(

She seems to be naively clinging on to dream theories that were discredited years, if not decades ago. As others have said, dreams can and do reflect real world worries and interests, but can just as likely be no more than a random collection of images, sounds and sensations that have no deeper "meaning".

This forested mountain you're climbing represents your present life chapter. The mountainous scale indicate the dreamer is going to challenges, while the forest suggests you feel lost and unsure. If you are male, your brother high above actually represents yourself. His sequences suggest you need to cultivate a different point of view, or a different strategy to meet with the issues that are difficult for you to navigate.

In a figurative sense, one's father represents the future and unknown. Thus, the pack of wolves running out after you are a part of your identity that must be accepted to meet with the future. In general, wolves represent what is wild, untamed, but uniquely enjoyable within ourselves. In their negative form, wolves can represent a devouring addiction (drugs, sex, etc.).

Your position on the rock in the river, means that you're projecting a negative interpretation on the forces that the wolves symbolize. You may be afraid of being swept away by invisible currents, and instead favor stability and what you know of yourself. You may not be seeing things clearly. Try to accept what is different and potential dangerous, as best you can, and you should be progressing through your challenges again in no time.

Hope this helps.

QED

Does anyone understand what is going on with this thread? Julia Finley asks for us to post dreams. She says there will be two different interpretations. We are supposed to pick the correct? best? most pleasant? most predictive? most something interpretation. We don't know why this is happening, but it seems to have something to do with the Million Dollar Challenge, but no one can figure out what it has to do with the challenge.

Then Julia Finley starts rejecting dreams because they are too long or short or the subject matter is not orignal enough, while at the same time she posts a URL to a site where we can all pay to have our dreams interpreted.

Then she decides she's done with us and asks to have the thread closed.

Then she continues with dream interpretaion in the thread, but it's only one interpretation and not the promised "real" one followed by the "dummy" interpretation.

I think that's the history of this thread, and I still have no idea what's going on.

How dare you.
Those words that individuals across the world wrote on my behalf, are the reason for my life's work. They are all positive, and they are all I have.

The difference between them and you, is not that they weren't determined to maintain a sense of skepticism. The difference is that those people are honest with themselves, and inherently open-minded to new information. You clearly cannot afford to practice either, in your situation.

Just so you know, your dream looks JUST LIKE the ones I get from narrow-minded religious persons.

Actally I am beginning to agree with this. The more google hits that land here, and show that she is talking utter crap, the better. So thanks for posting Julia Finley, google has just linked this thread, and you have another negative thread which if normal JREF rules apply, will not be closed, but will stay open and will expand and allow more and more posts commenting on your interpretations, and showing that you have, well, absaolutely nothing.

So, the more googles, the more hits here. Any publicity is not always good publicity. Live with it. The Internet - the newest two edged sword.

Yep, attack the critics by calling them narrow minded. That always works.

Unfortunately what people like Julia Finley do not even understand is how Google hits work. Julia, sorry, Google is certainly not YOUR friend!

Major error Julia Finley, major, major error.
