• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

Does 'rape culture' accurately describe (many) societies?

In the same way - legalising porn (whilst banning porn that is deemed extreme) needs a definition. Apparently, in the UK at least, there is no single definition.

I note you haven't provided a definition. Can you stop prevaricating and provide a definition of that which you want to ban?

Are you denying that the difficulties we would run into in banning porn - the grey areas which may well flag some educational material - isn't currently an issue with the legalisation of porn...but at the other end of the scale?

Are you perfectly happy that legal actors look and act like underage children in porn...just for example?

How is that an answer to what I wrote.

Please define that which it is you want to ban so we can discuss it properly.

If you can't define it, you can't ban it. Don't you understand that?

So please, provide your definition.

Why don't you also pull up arthwollipot for not defending his assertion that Pornhub is reputable and law-abiding?

Why is it that in the UK there is no single definition of porn? Are our legal people remiss?

Are you perfectly happy that legal actors look and act like underage children in porn? Yes or no?

How is that in any way relevant to my question?

I note that, once again, you have not provided a definition of that which you want to ban. I think that's three times now.

Your credibility diminishes every time you evade the question.

Can you please provide a definition of that which you want to ban. Until you've done that, we can't really discuss the merits of your proposal.

Anyone:

Was arthwollipot was right to describe Pornhub as reputable and law-abiding?

Why?

Answered and you won't answer my question.

Are you an advocate of the porn status quo?

Does anyone here want to defend porn featuring actors who look like children? According to Barnardo's it is rife on porn sites.

No, it hasn't been answered. And it's dishonest of you to say it has been.

Please provide your definition.

Are you an advocate of status quo porn?

Not sure what that means, but Francis Rossi doesn't really do it for me.

I'm happy with all things consensual, safe and sane. I'm happy for all sites providing adult material to be tagged as such to allow parental controls to be implemented and for that to allow the gatekeepers of adult material to be the parents of the children concerned.

I'm happy for parents that fail to protect their children from unsuitable adult material to be prosecuted in exactly the same way as society now prosecutes parents who abuse or neglect their children in other ways. We're now way past the point that ignorance of the internet can be used as an excuse as may have been the case in the past.

Now, if you will, your definition...

Are you an advocate of the porn I described? Legal actors looking like children?

I neither know nor care. You're the one that wants to implement a ban. It's therefore you that needs to define that which you wish to ban. You must surely understand that. At the end of your intended path, someone needs to actually write the statute, which requires a definition. If you want to ban a thing, you absolutely have to be able to say what that thing is. Please do so

This is not relevant to the current conversation. Indeed, if you have actors looking like children doing a thing, you'll need to establish that that thing is within the bounds of that which you wish to ban. you therefore (you'll never guess...) need to define that which you want to ban.

Seriously, each time you evade, your argument becomes weaker.

Isn't this just another way of saying you want to ban porn - as in the type of porn available on Pornhub et al? Porn is about sexually arousing the consumer. Sex education isn't.

If you truly believe that sex education material is the only thing we should allow, then, unless the tax bill was really punitive, it would just be virtue signalling (just like many politicians who are railing at the harms of such content) - with very little substance...like the Online Safety Act.
Why would porn that was mostly aligned with the values taught in sex education in your country result in porn being banned?

It might result in a defacto ban of types of porn that are the polar opposite of those values, such as voyeurism or revenge porn, but I'd imagine there would still be a very broad range of porn on offer in most places.

I'm surprised by the lack of support for this idea. Why not make Pornhub's content and algorithms be aligned with the values around sex of your society, rather than just what maximises their profit?

Perhaps there's some uncomfortable cognitive dissonance stemming from people thinking about the porn they consume compared to what they want their kids taught about sex which explains the lack of support for this idea.

Perhaps people's values get a bit wishy-washy when Pornhub's algorithms shows them something that sexually arouses them?

Boldened seems to contradict what you have been saying about educational sex. I'm not clear about your proposal.

Pornhub reflects what society, in general, wants to see and get off on.

As already pointed out, if a definition is required for a ban, then one will be required for legalisation.

In the UK such material is banned on DVD and Blu-ray - but you can just go on the internet......

Should we show strangulation porn? Sex involving such is pretty popular apparently - particularly among the young.

Why don't you admit you can't?

I'm done.
