Interesting posts Stray Cat. You seem like the resident expert on crop circle making. How Many crop circles have you made and how many people do you know that make crop circles?

Are there any other people who make crop circles on here, or is it just you?

Hi. Sorry, I don't talk about my own involvement in circlemaking.
What I do say about them can be backed up with evidence and I'm not about to start providing evidence of my own involvement or the involvement of anyone I know unless that information is already in the public domain.

Colin Andrews says £15,000 on his website. (though accuracy isn't one of his strong points).
The lowest figure I've read over the years is £8,000 which bearing in mind that at that time the field full of crop wouldn't have been worth even a quarter of that, is good going.

Looks like a good moneymaking opportunity. we'll rent some land in England and get some circle makers* to decorate it then promote it on the internet.

If our "old farmer who owns the land"** plays his part right and really woos it up the take should be fantastic!

How did people know what UFO landing marks would look like?

I suppose it was based upon the assumption that UFOs were saucer shaped, therefor based on that presumption it might seem logical to some that the original simple crop circles were landing spots if they were that way inclined.

Um, James Randi has been a "hoaxter" more than once. Research "Project Alpha".

"In July 1991, an American created the message 'Talk To Us' in a field near Alton Barnes, Wiltshire. A week later near Milk Hill, a few miles away, the circle makers created a formation that appeared to consist of runic letters perhaps in response to the original message. Numerous interpretations were offered for the cryptic message but none of them made sense. I can guarantee that a lot more people got in a flap about Project Alpha than that incident you posted. I'm not even sure what's supposed to be harmful about the incident you've posted. You seem to have assumed that I'll simply agree with you that it's reprehensible, whereas I can't even begin to imagine what it is that you're finding to object to about it. Perhaps you can explain what harm has been done?

The real interpretation of the Milk Hill script related to Dr Terrence Meaden (a prominent crop circle researcher at the time) was arrived at by seeing the individual letters as the bottom half only. When the top half was added the message translated as:

It does fit. The "k" is somewhat like an "h", but other than that, it couldn't be clearer. And it fits much better than any other interpretation.

Found this on the website of someone called Marc Smulders:

Recently has been revealed that this sentence - when turned upside down - also forms the lower part of a simple English sentence: "MEADEN TALKS ****". The letters of this sentence were displayed like the ciphers of a simple pocket calculater. The sentence seems to give an answer to an at that time highly disputed theory of the scientist Dr Terence Meaden referring the cause of the crop circle phenomena. At the same time this formation also gave an answer to a man-made sentence in the field of a few days earlier: "TALK TO US". Because of this, this crop circle formation nowadays is considered as a hoax, which seems to be pretty painful for all the researchers that made a lot of effort to decipher the "Hebrew" text of this formation (including myself).

It's not a mirror reflection, it's just the bottom half of the words.

The Meaden Talks **** solution wasn't mine. If you Google that term, you'll find the website Fred mentions.

I'm also unsure as to what you mean, but you seem to be saying that, at best, you don't know whether it was harmful or not. So why did you post it as an example of a hoax that wasn't as harmless as Project Alpha?
