CPAC 2014

Meanwhile back at CPAC, Paul Ryan delivers his own special brand of crazy

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) said Thursday that liberals don't understand disadvantaged students would rather have parents who care for them than a free lunch at school.

Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference, Ryan said Republicans offer their constituents "ideas" while Democrats offer a "full stomach and an empty soul."

Note to all Conservative whackjobs: EVERYBODY on Earth would rather eat than anything else, when faced with hunger. NOTHING conveys hatred more than "You're better off hungry."

"I'm sorry hunny, I would care about you, but school gives you a free lunch so I'm not going to."

Wait, is that how Ryan thinks? That it must be one or the other and that if you stop free lunches, then another more parents would care? What's the relation here? What is he proposing to get parents to care? Or is it 'the parents don't care so they don't deserve to have their children helped'?

Looking at the context, it seems that he thinks liberals don't get that parents that care are more important. Why?

And true to form, either Ryan or his source swiped that anecdote from someone else:
I didn't really understand the question. "Do you want it in a brown paper bag?" I asked. "Or how would you prefer it?"

"Miss Laura," he said, "I don't want your money. I want my lunch in a brown paper bag."

"Okay, sure. But why do you want it in a bag?"

"Because when I see kids come to school with their lunch in a paper bag, that means someone cares about them. Miss Laura, can I please have my lunch in a paper bag?"

Well, I guess that means that Paul Ryan is saying his mother doesn't love him, since he used social security survivors benefits after his father died.

No, it's only liberal parents who don't love their children.

I find the idea of a rival conference most amusing.

I now have the song "Food Glorious Food" running through my head.

,,,, "hot sausage and mustard. "

What's really funny sad is how the CPAC minority outreach part of the conference went.

This is sadly not a joke. It's almost like they only wanted to be able to say they were concerned with minority outreach, but couldn't actually be bothered with it.

it gets better

The moderator, Jason Roe, said one of the problems Republicans have with attracting poor minority voters is that Democrats like to give them handouts while Republicans don't. Sailor said that one of the frustrations he's seen is that Democrats have lots of "goodies to offer."

"Our guys aren't exactly in the offering goodies business so it's harder for us to go in and say what can we do to help the African American experience," Sailor said.

Ah, the old obamaphone-esque canard. "Democrats are just getting attention from minorities because they let them have free stuff!" It's insufferably demeaning to minorities... they're basically saying that at least a majority of minorities only follow one political party if they're fed sunflower seeds like a freakin' hampster. I can't help but wonder if "outreach" suddenly has an alternate nebulous political definition.

And they don't unattached that it only resonates with their base while alienating minorities.

The foreign policy rants are pretty funny.
If we had a tough president who showed balls, Putin would not have invaded the Crimea.
Gee, guess they forgot 2008 where Putin invaded Georgia despite having a President who attakced two countries (one quite justifiably, the other not so much) in office.

Michael Medved has declared that it's a liberal lie that any states have banned gay marriage. It seems he is reduced to argument-by-word-game, which he should have grown out of after his HS Sophomore year.
