Consciousness question

Open your eyes, and consciousness will speak to you of everything that you see around you. There are no "scientic facts" outside of this.

Open your eyes: check

consciousness will speak: metaphor, great, okay, check

to you of everything that you see around you: computer screen, keyboard, fingers, desk, lamp, water bottle, oooh, eraser, to go menus, calendar, phone, books, this is fun

How am I doing?

Dude, there are no scientific facts other than those.

You are quite simply wrong.

You keep your head in a bucket, and claim there is no outside world, because you can't see it. As long as you refuse to remove your head from the bucket and look at the evidence others have suggested to you, you cannot logically know that "there are no 'scientific facts' outside of this." You simply have not looked.
:boxedin:
It isn't necessary to analyze in order to know. It's simply a matter of being aware.

Yes, the whole English language is a metaphor ... for consciousness in fact. Nice try. ;)

More trash from you? I'm afraid this will only mean something to someone who is actually looking for it. But, here goes ...

Little Children in Heaven.

Oh, for crying out tears, more Swedeborg BS ?!?

Iacchus,
This

is

not

evidence!!!!!!!

OK, got the message? If I say that 2+2=4, I can put two things in front of you, then two more things and show you they make four. That's evidence.

You want to use Swedeborg's ramblings, fine. First, show me proof that the human soul exists. Then, show me proof that Heaven exists. Then we'll talk about Swedeborg.

"It's not what we don't know that hurts us, it's what we do know that isn't so."
(I have seen that quote attributed to Will Rogers, Mark Twain, and Abe Lincoln. There are probably others...)

How do you know you know? You have admitted that you could be wrong (as can anyone else, of course); what is the arbiter of truth? How do you know? You have placed your trust in the dreams of someone who died long before you were born, and reject the evidence of controlled experiments. Why? By what standard do you determine what is true and what is illusion?

These are not rhetorical questions. I can answer them for what I believe to be true. Can you?

Guys, I understand what he is trying to say. Of course, he is just words, he appeals to a "higher understanding" (just to put a name on it) that is known among Zen masters and Buddhists in general (now, if you all look at my name its obvious that I like those disciplines).

He is a blind talking about what sighted persons have said about the world. He merely repeats the words without even grasping what they really mean.

One thing is to enter "a state of consciousness" in which no questions can be asked, and another very different is to claim that because of it then "souls" and "gods" and "spirits" are real and the world is not.

Iacchus, if you are REALLY interested in learning, and not bragging, I might point you to good reading and perhaps a couple of retreats, that way you will talk by experience and stop babbling words you cant grasp.

Sorry for being rude, Iacchus, but really, nobody can takes you seriously if you keep that attitude.

I am aware of myself in front of my computer typing at the keyboard. What else do I NEED to know?
If that is all you are going to claim, then nothing.

But you claim knowledge of consciousness, of a time preceding time, of a place on the other side of matter, and of a detailed and specific heaven.

To be taken seriously on these things, you need to be aware of more than the fact that you are yourself in front of your keyboard.

Now we are going somewhere! ;) thats the most basic form of awareness. There are other "levels". The first thing you should to is to ask to yourself who is Iacchus? Most of the people will also benefit for some form of meditation, I specially like Zen and Vipassana. Both can help you to clear your mind from thoughts, so they will make this awareness stronger.

I have faith in what I know.

Nope, thats lame. We are not advancing after all. :( You said you are aware, you claim that awareness is all that is needed.

Then.

Live by your words, become AWARE, with capital letters. After that we can talk and discuss all you want regarding "faith".

Ah, but how did the computer get there you see? ... At the "very moment" I set it there. So, I must have had some idea of what I was doing at that time. ;)

My awareness is all I have. It defines the whole world around me. If I don't put my trust in this, what else is there to trust?

But you are not aware of your computer's history. Why make claims about it? You claim awareness is all you need, but you constantly go beyond what you are aware of, and make claims about things of which you are ignorant.
