Can you beat Trump? Pick the WORST people for his cabinet positions you can think of!

Are you going to explain how someone who doesn't seem to be a pacifist and who's not a white supremacist is worse than someone who, if he's not a white supremacist has a very poor choice in body art?
At the level of import and jackassery we're talking about, it's six of one, half a dozen of the other. You're looking for an argument, all I'm offering is an opinion. Sorry to disappoint. Feel free to return to your five minutes' hate.

Indeed, an opinion is unarguable, which is a good thing for all to remember. The inclusion of the vice presidency in the list of Presidential appointees might be worth disagreeing with, though not, in this case worth argument.

By the way, speaking of recent nominees in this thread, I just read a tweet by Matt Gaetz, in which he asserts that the general rule for dating is half one's age minus seven years, and that he's admirably almost adhered to that rule for the last ten years. You can do the math. It's good to know, I guess, that he probably hasn't porked a 9 year old since 2014

It's half your age PLUS seven years, and is a Victorian rule of thumb for how old your bride should be.
Well, that is assuming the poster is numerate. I would add, however, that since this is a tweet, and given the way that platform works, there is also no guarantee it is a genuine tweet, and I should have noted that above, even remembering that Poe's law suggests it might not be.

Five minute hate? Some things are hateful, and a sex trafficker for attorney general,

That is not an answer. Why did you choose Bill Nye in the first place?

Meanwhile here is a thread about the suitability of Trump's choices and I can think of other reasons for several of the candidates.

Bit of a long 🧵 but I promise, it is actually going somewhere, not just a rant on Trump's cabinet picks.

But the rant part first:

Marco Rubio (Sec of State)
- More or less qualified, but has become a whipped dog, begging for his master's love, since 2016

Isn't it obvious? When you can't defend the indefensible...

You have to understand the awful predicament rational conservatives are in. Trump's a dangerous buffoon whose choices are bound to be asinine, but he's bringing home the bacon for Republicans. Just have to hope he doesn't do too much damage before the adults take over - assuming they ever do. But hey, what choice did you have? It was Trump or a Democrat Harris, which is no choice at all!

As an American, I wish I could disagree with that. But I can't.
There was some sympathy for the saner parts of the US the first time around...

This time around- sorry to say, you will find it a lot harder to find support from 'TROTW'

To quote Thomas Benjamin Wild Esq from his performance at Boyds of Bedford

'I've no more ◊◊◊◊◊ to give'

You can find him on UTube by searching for 'Thomas Benjamin Wild Esq at Boyds of Bedford'- caution not SFW if you don't like swearing...

And thats pretty much how TROTW feels about the US and its rightwing insanity...

Pity for the poor people caught up in it, but at this point, Thomas sums up most peoples opinion of the US at this point...

Well... OK, but how does it go with the topic?

What I´m curious about is how people will react once Trump is in, declares a national emergency, and the process of mass deportations begins.

Now is the time IMO for a person to figure out a plan A, a plan B, to perhaps follow if/when bad things begin to happen next year. Americans being passive in the face of this, expressing meaningless opinions on what´s already happened seems a waste of time.

I think it's safe to say that the mass of U.S. citizens will remain passive as long as they're just rounding up brown people. There will be protests that will likely be put down by the military. Then, I don't know, other than it's gonna suck for a lot of folks.

ETA: Some folks have a plan A.

Haitian families are said to be leaving Springfield, Ohio, in droves over fears they’ll be rounded up and deported following Donald Trump’s re-election, according to reports.

Around 200,000 Haitian immigrants legally live and work in the US under Temporary Protected Status (TPS) – granting them immunity from deportation for a limited time because of emergency conditions in their home nation. Thousands of these have settled in Springfield – a city of about 58,000 residents.

Despite having legal status, the president-elect has signaled that immigrants living under TPS could have their status revoked.

Now, with Trump set to return to the White House in two months’ time, some immigrants have already started packing up and leaving Springfield before they could be pushed.

“People are leaving,” Margery Koveleski, a volunteer at the Haitian Community Alliance, told
The Guardian.

Admittedly, it's not much of a plan.

Good question, but not this topic. Why don't you start another thread on it?

But still better than a concept of a plan.

So would it be in France, Switzerland, and I suspect in most European countries should some of our far right politicians come into power.
