"Borat" and Giuliani

I will give Giuliani the benefit of the doubt. Cohen has a history of trying to get people into compromising positions that only happened in context.

We don't know what she said to go to the hotel room or to get him to lay back and tuck in his shirt. From Cohen I expect the was much manipulation to get him to that point where he could make it look bad.

I give Cohen often not much more credit than Project Veritas.

Oh, definitely give Giuliani the benefit of the doubt...because it's not like he has a history of being unfaithful in his marriages, right? He's really earned that trust!

You know it's bad when even the right wing press doesn't buy the denial.

Gateway Pundit says that Giuliani did nothing wrong and that any red-blooded man would also have jumped on such a sexual opportunity.

Right wing twitter grifters are insisting sharing the images is illegal revenge porn.

Seems not even his allies buy the "shirt tuck" excuse.

Tucking your shirt in follows the same rules as shaking it off after peeing.

Two shakes. After that you're just playing with.

Yes, if Rudy had clear reason to believe she was a minor, then he has a lot of explaining to do. The fact that she was a 24 year old actor, means nothing.

If it works for Dateline NBC's To Catch a Predator, then it must also apply in this case.

The best thing about this though is. Even if Randy Rudi is "innocent" this time, let the sonofabtich keep denying it in public.

I hope this story continues to gather traction.

An article I read (can't remember where, probably some leftist rag) said that people who had seen the movie in advance said that the Guiliani incident was rather removed from "awkward" and right up in "massive scandal" territory.

I love watching the right trying to get the story straight.

"Who wouldn't have a tug? Oh...what...he said a tuck? Oh and she was fifteen...errr....help me out here, that's...I'm gonna go with....wrong? But Roy Moore...? Oh, sorry, he's No Moore now??! Okay... Yeah, okay, so Giuliani did nothing wrong, unlike the wishy washy Sleepy Joe, the tireless radical Joe..."

Oh wow! Surely the footage will be coming out soon, right?

Maybe they should wait to see how Trump reacts. Will he embrace Rudy? Let's hope so. Then the footage will be perfect!:D

Oh, who cares about that - the important thing is that it makes him look idiotic or worse and undermines the little credibility he has left. Very nice timing as he accidentally happened recently to come across "Hunter Biden's laptop" (as if) while drunkenly strolling in Delaware strip joints and brothels.

I hate to confess that I find myself thinking along these lines as well.

I despise all of the attempts at personal destruction that are currently so much of our political landscape. As a matter of principle, I feel like I ought to object to the blatant sort of manipulation SBC was doing in this, and the sleazy attempt to catch Rudy in some sort of scandal, possibly, indeed probably, distorting the evidence to paint a very misleading picture. As a matter of principle, I feel like we should be saying that Rudy had good reason to believe that an attractive young woman wanted to go to bed with him, and we shouldn't care what choices he makes in his personal life, and that it is despicable that someone would blatantly manipulate and present themselves falsely in an attempt to make a political opponent look bad.

But maybe just this once I'll compromise on my principles. Rudy himself is busily trying to dig dirt on the family of the opposing candidate. It serves him right.

I wish all of them would stop. I wish that this election was about principles, about what direction the country should take, and about who is better capable of steering the ship of state and navigating the risky waters of the modern world, but, to continue the nautical metaphor, that ship sailed four years ago. Since they were so willing to sling mud, it's good that they got hit with some of it.

With a claimed 15 year old?

I'm not sure that this is entirely fair. He apparently thought she was a right-wing reporter, which could reasonably be used to suggest that she's an adult. The character of Borat's daughter that she plays is 15, but that doesn't imply that at any point Giuliani should have thought that she was 15 rather than the actor's actual age of 24.

With a claimed 15 year old?

That's inaccurate.

The actress, who is 24, did not tell Rudy that she was 15. In the movie script, the 24 year old actress is portraying a 15 year old character, but Rudy didn't know anything about that. He had no reason to believe that she was anything other than an adult woman.

ETA: ninjad.

Massive scandal?

Because he wanted to have sex with a hot twentysomething?

I don't think that's a scandal anymore. Is he still married? If so, then he has to explain something to his wife, but that's none of our business.

It's embarrassing, not the least because, let's be realistic, hot twentysomethings don't usually feel like going to bed with old men. I wish they did, and I mean that sincerely, but it just doesn't happen except with girls that have some serious psychological issues. So, Rudy is exposed as an old lech who seriously thinks the hot young reporter got turned on talking to him, which makes him look really stupid.

But....scandal? I don't see it. Those days are gone.

Which will not prevent me from laughing at him.

(And all of that assumes that the whole thing wasn't blatant fabrication, clever editing, and just plain falsehood on SBC's part.)

The focus shift, from the base and maybe all the way to the top, will be... "this is how real men, you know... locker room type men, behave around pretty women".

And why Pence won't be alone with one. [emoji1]

Eta: And didn't Sacha fake interview Sheriff Joe a couple years ago? I don't recall the gotcha but Arpaio (or whoever) wasn't a happy camper about it.

He got Arpaio to say Sheriff Joe would take a blow job from Trump. For enquiring minds.
