Audiophilia - From skeptic to believer

Just curious -- what music could possibly be so sublime that requires all of these tweaks to eke out every last bit of the reproduction?

for ES, the music serves the gear. So his gear is so sublime that it requires MP3's of certain selected Trance tracks. Go figure.

BTW, vinyl recordings are better than CD, and vinyl records from Japan are best of all.

:boggled:
I seriously hope you forgot the wink smiley. Vinyl sucks in every objective measurement you can think of.

You may personally prefer the sound of vinyl, but that would be from a preference for the sound of the distortions it introduces.

To butt in: Aside from preferring the vinyl distortion to lossy digital compression (MP3, AAC, Atrac, DAB), there are other reasons why I like vinyl. You may think they're tangential, but here you go:

- Cover art
- Availability of things that are simply not reissued
- Cheap way to flesh out your music library if you know where to look

In addition, I simply think they're nicer objects than CDs and certainly than digital files, which aren't really objects at all. This may seem silly when talking about audio, but to me these are definite qualities of LPs.

For all his obsession with audio, I'm quite surprised that ExtremeSkeptic hasn't decided to use DVD-Audio rather than MP3s.

My friend said that Redbook CD sounds better than SACD, and SACD sounds better than DVD-Audio. Skeptics only look at numbers and that's the problem.

I want someone to integrate SACD and ICEpower amp, that should be better than Redbook CD.

Yes yes, skeptics this and skeptics that. Why not try it for yourself?

Hey, you never told me if you believed you could train your eyes to see individual atoms or not.

I think a serious Audiophile test has to exclude people who pay for the equipment themselves, or at least eliminate this variable from the test by doing the double blind in a studio. would *you* admit to yourself or your friends that your $30,000 system sounded as good as your $500 one?

A DBT can be set-up very easily so that the people doing the test don’t know what type of system that they are listening too.

Well.

Advanced evidence suggests that the atoms in audio cables are more perfectly aligned the further north you get, so maybe he should move.

Yes, with that so-called logic, he would make you a good son.

I'm sorry, I can't view Youtube at work. What are those videos about?

I was serious, by the way, with my question. I would like to know, ES, if you believe you could possibly train your vision to observe individual atoms.

Hoo boy. This is all a joke, right?

You're either an extremely tenacious troll, or you're in serious need of help.
Unfortunately, there is no indication whatsoever that he might be joking.

I vote for extremely tenacious troll in serious need of help.
