Audiophilia - From skeptic to believer

:jaw-droppThis would be hilarious, if not for the fact that this guy thinks he's serious. It's thanks to people like him and Fremer that I refuse to apply the "audiophile" label to myself.
I would like to come up with a new word for audiophile, that would mean, I DON'T BUY INTO THE WOO-WOO. Maybe Skepticaudiophile or Sciaudiophile.

nah i think it should stay like it is.

sorta like anyone who makes art is an artists, anyone who writes screenplays is a screenwriter, the title doesn't imply you're good at it. so it is with audiophile... but perhaps "audiophile (brain engaged)"

I was about to say... trim back the post!

i'm so feeling that! even as a cross-linked blog, it's TOO LONG.

but then I read the bit at the end.

I often wonder... why spend so much on audio equipment when you can listen to music live? Obviously, that only really applies to classical music.

because i'm unlikely to have Ivo Pogorelich come to Bangkok to play Liszt, let alone my living room at my convenience, for starters.

then there's jazz. if Eric Alexander is your roommate, and you go to every gig, he still doesn't play the same way twice.

quality audio equipment has its place, IMO. sadly though a lot of audiophile stuff requires customers with more money than sense.
