Merged 2024 Election Thread

Schlump (and I use that pseudonym precisely) and Biden have agreed to debate each other. I'd love to see the logistics of organizing a debate if jail time or house arrest results from the current NYC trial, which should see a verdict well before the first debate.

If NJ is really in play for Trump, then this election is over. But, I don't believe NJ is really in play.

Well given that Photo is really from a Rod Stewart concert in B rzail..what amazes me is that Stone is stupid enough to think he could get away with a fake as inept as that.

Using "Genocide Joe", blaming the Dems, and calling not trusting polls after the vast majority of polls favored Clinton over Trump as "self-delusion" is just more far-left whining about not having everything your way.

THey will never forgive Biden for beating Bernie in the polls.
And I repeat, they think Genocide Joe id bad on Mideast pOlicy, what the hell do they think Trump's is going to be like?

See link for rest of the post supporting the NYT poll? Consider this the well supported rebuttal:

If you want to watch it on YouTube:

Watch at least the first 10 minutes of a contradictory discussion about the poll. 18 minutes is better if you have the time. It is very interesting discussing critically thinking about this particular NYT poll.

Sure you've got the right link?

That's weird. Looks like a knitting video to me, but I clicked on it earlier and I think there was something about an MSNBC Joe Scarborough video which I must admit did not raise my hopes for anything "critically thinking".

I can call an Australian landline phone number for a company supposedly based in Melbourne, and someone in Mumbai answers. You can forward your number to any other, or a cell phone. People move house and keep the same phone number for convenience. So there is no guarantee the numbers they actually called were households in any of those states...or even in the USA.

According to the methodology, 95% of the calls were on cell phones, and not landlines.

Phone surveys and their severe shortcomings have been analysed to death in this forum many times over the years. Even if the surveys were done entirely honestly (they're not), there's always a big blank gap between the base data and the published survey results where the injection of any newsworthy filtering and bias gets a run. And I've personally seen news organisations conspire to slant reporting of events for views/clicks/notoriety.

So I give zero credence to any phone surveys, even ones saying Biden is streets ahead.

If your stance is simply that no polls are ever worth anything at all because they are probably incentivized to get a result that the pollsters wanted, then I suppose you don't need to know much about any of the polls in question before dismissing them.

However, you initially dismissed them on faulty assumptions regarding who was being called.

No audience and no interrupting the other guy if the other guy is talking. The mics will be turned off. I like that.

Sorry. It was the right link when I posted it. Those knitting and coloring bait and switch people suck, big time.

I'll find the right link because it was an important critical thinking video about the NYT poll.

I'm going to have to look for this tomorrow, I have stuff that needs to get done first. What the link showed was that every month or so the NYT does the same poll with faulty methodology after which they run a half dozen stories based on the polls. Then when they publish a more validly conducted poll they publish it but run no stories based on the results. And the Times repeats this pattern about once a month.

They usually only show up in the last couple minutes of a video. In those cases it is reasonable like an ad. I haven't seen this latest hot-link tactic. My apologies to management. I thought we only had to worry about it with images.

Sounds like quite the yarn.

I hope what happened in Solovakis does not give anybody in the US any bright ideas.

I think USA wins any contest for the number of presidents assassinated during their presidency. They don't need any examples to encourage them.
