If he is willing to write a blank check to support Israel in all they do and give them all the funds they want, a lot of Jews will disregard his friendship with Nazis and vote for him.

Not a lot you can do about stupid.

Trump attends and participates in Nazi-friendly events. If there are enough people in this country to move the needle on the election that believe he is the better choice for Jewish people, then this country deserves another Trump presidency.

Nazis mingle openly at CPAC, spreading antisemitic conspiracy theories and finding allies
Nazis appeared to find a friendly reception at the Conservative Political Action Conference this year.

Throughout the conference, racist extremists, some of whom had secured official CPAC badges, openly mingled with conference attendees and espoused antisemitic conspiracy theories.

Poe’s law strikes, I sincerely thought it was satire. Please let it be satire, please.

I'm sure it's not. The body of work identifies a Trump fan, but more importantly, the Bloomberg poll should be sending shudders through every spine.

Maybe Bloomberg is playing a double-bluff, loading the polls with GOP voters to scare up anti-Trump Biden support, because if 69% of registered voters think the economy is headed in the wrong direction, you have a serious communication problem.

I think its on the wrong track myself. Deficit spending on the order of 1 trillion USD every 100 days is absolutely bound for disaster. Do I have the slightest confidence that the GOP would fix it? No.

If there's any doubt as to Trump's authoritarian, anti-democracy aspirations, this is what he said about Viktor Orban at Mar-a-Lago:

“He’s a non-controversial figure because he says, ‘This is the way it’s going to be,’ and that’s the end of it. Right? He’s the boss.”

What Orban and his ruling party have done as PM of Hungary:

Orbán has served as Hungary’s prime minister since 2010. The next year, his party, Fidesz, used its two-thirds majority in the legislature to rewrite the nation’s constitution. It changed the retirement age for judges, forcing hundreds into early retirement, and vested responsibility for appointing new judges with a single political appointee who was widely accused of acting on behalf of Fidesz.

Fidesz later authored a new media law and set up a nine-member council to serve as the country’s media regulator. All nine members are Fidesz appointees, which media watchdogs say has facilitated a major decline in press freedom and plurality.

The country’s legislative lines have been redrawn to protect Fidesz members and no major news outlets remain that are critical of Orbán’s government, making it almost impossible for his party to lose elections, analysts say.

Orbán backed Trump’s reelection effort and has had frosty relations with the Biden administration, which pointedly did not invite Hungary to a summit on democracy it organized after the president took office.
Orbán’s visit this week comes after he signed a new National Sovereignty Law that penalizes any foreign support of political actors in Hungary, part of the prime minister’s longstanding battle against the European Union and international nonprofits criticizing his erosion of Hungary’s democracy.

“Orbán is setting up this huge barrier to anyone interfering in Hungarian elections, but Orbán’s interfering in all sorts of other countries’ elections,” said Kim Scheppele, a Princeton sociologist and Hungary expert.

Scheppele said the parallels between Trump and Orbán go beyond ideology. She noted that Orbán is not very religious but has become a hero to Christian conservatives for his hardline stances, much like Trump.

Orbán’s approach appeals to Trump’s brand of conservatives, who have abandoned their embrace of limited government and free markets for a system that sides with their own ideology, said Dalibor Rohac, a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.

They want to use the tools of government to reward their friends and punish their opponents, which is what Orbán has done,” Rohac said.

Anyone who supports this authoritarian dictator wannabe is anything BUT a 'patriot'. They are actively supporting the biggest threat to US democracy: Trump.

I follow a gun forum where members are calling for a coup to make sure Trump is our next President.

You know what his supporters will be when he no longer needs supporters? His subjects. Generally things don't work out so well for them under dictatorships.

If the FBI is good at one thing, it's infiltrating radical groups - if you want to utterly destroy a militant right-wing forum, accuse one of them of being a Fed.

That's nothing new though - the increase in deficit hasn't changed, but the wider economy is performing well under Biden's watch.

Rather, I'd say that it's probably pretty safe to say that they would work to make it explode, yet again, because that's what they just keep doing.

Democrats - "Tax and spend for responsible management and to invest in our future."
Republicans - "Spend, spend, spend and cut taxes on those who gain the most from the investments already made."

The Two Santa Clauses Strategy that the GOP has long embraced is poison to the nation, either way.

Good article in the Telegraph on the problems Trump is having raising money. No surprise, donors are concerned their money will go to pay off legal bills and not end up being used for the campaign.

“I’m not going to write him a check for $50,000 when I don’t know where the hell it’s going – to lawyers or who knows what else,” one major California-based donor told Reuters, adding that other donors had said similar.

The cash crunch extends to the wider machinery of the Republican Party. The Republican National Committee (RNC) entered 2024 with nearly three-times less cash-on-hand than the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Of course the problem with donating the RNC is that it's controlled by Trumpers. I suspect the RSCC and RCCC will be getting lots of money that would ordinarily go through the RNC.

And more so now that Trump's handpicked leadership, Michael Whatley and DIL Lara Trump, have become the RNC chairperson and co-chairperson respectively.

If Biden had his DIL installed as the DNC co-chairperson, the GOPers would be having conniption fits.

Well, who could have predicted that!
‘Absolute bloodbath’ at RNC as new leadership loyal to Trump purges staff

Chair Michael Whatley and co-chair Lara Trump move to reorganize the party, with an expected cull of 60 members

Mmm. And now Trump is talking about how so very much of Social Security, Medicaid, and the like can be cut.

Not like it's a new thing for him to push, but seriously, ugh. It's the kind of thing that would make the polls being close bewildering yet again, if one assumed rationality or policy was a major driver of support for Trump.
