Merged 2024 Election Thread

Just because... While there's manufactured hubbub about Biden's memory on the one side, on the other we have... Trump echoes Hitler's 'final solution' rhetoric in latest speeches.

Here's what he wrote on Truth Social (see if it reminds you of anything:

"2024 is our Final Battle. With you at my side, we will demolish the Deep State, we will expel the warmongers from our government, we will drive out the globalists, we will cast out the Communists, Marxists, and Fascists, we will throw off the sick political class that hates our Country, we will rout the Fake News Media, we will Drain the Swamp, and we will liberate our country from these tyrants and villains once and for all!"

(If it helps, change 2024 to 1933 and remove the reference to Fascists.)

It is true that LBJ did not handle the Vietnam War very well.

However, it was a war that he inherited and quite frankly, I doubt that anyone could have done much with that hornet's nest by the time 1963 rolled around.

Great!

And as for the bet that you are proposing, I will take that bet. After all, I would not mind having another house given the current real estate market.

For starters, Bush Sr lost to Clinton during the 1992 Presidential election.

Second, Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar.

Third, some of you all may remember the famous pledge that Bush Sr made during the 1988 Republican Convention where he avowed "Read my lips! NO NEW TAXES!". But by 1990 Bush Sr was raising taxes.

Fourth, Bush Sr was the one who started that stupid first war with Iraq.

Fifth Shrub Snr was neck deep in the plan to support both Iran and Iraq during their war.

Sixth he was also neck deep in the plan to smuggle Noriega's drugs into the US to make money to buy weapons to ship to Iran.

Seventh it was his personally picked diplomat that told Saddam Hussein that the US was ok with Iraq invading Quwait kicking off the first (sixth if you're the UK) Iraq war.

Dems manage to flip a seat in the special election to replace George Santos:

Trump rages at ‘foolish’ GOP candidate who lost race for Santos’s New York House seat

With this pickup, the Republicans still control the House, 219-213, but it seems like a good sign for Democrats. Trump claims that the Republican lost because she didn't endorse Trump and tried to keep him at arm's length. She would have totally won with Trump's backing. I think she would have lost by an even bigger margin if she had run as a Trumpist, but what do you think? It seems to be about 54% to 46%.

That's a very promising sign. Imagine what things would be like if the Dems had a strong candidate for the general election.

In part Trump is getting what he wants just by campaigning. He gets to protest all the court cases and he gets fo belittle people. All good stuff for him. He does not want the daily or any work as president. It would take him a month or so to pass executive orders and then sit at Mar a Lago to sign a few bills. He would get excited if he passed a lot of revenge measures, that might keep him at the White House. But Mar a Lago for most of the winters. He is an old man after all.
Hence Project 2025's 180-day playbook filled with goodies to keep trump writing those signatures.

Poll: Nearly 1 in 5 Americans believe Taylor Swift election conspiracy theory

By Azi Paybarah National reporter covering campaigns

About 18 percent of Americans say the conspiracy theory about Taylor Swift participating in a covert government operation to reelect President Biden is really true, according to a Monmouth University poll.

Of those who believe in the conspiracy, 71 percent identify with or lean toward the Republican Party, and 83 percent say they are likely to support former president Donald Trump if he is the Republican candidate in November, according to Monmouth.

Covert operation ? I thought Biden is running for reelection quite openly.

Yeah, that has me confused as well. Even if she wants Biden to win and is willing to endorse him, so what? A rich, popular entertainer saying Donald Trump is a dumb***? How is that a conspiracy?

Great news! Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

Pollsters are trolling! Boss move to get those clicks I must say.

The only way such a poll works is if you find the subset of people that are even aware of this new Swift conspiracy theory (I am now aware of it!)- which would naturally be popular in certain circles of media and internet. The results are predictable.

In other words, it isnt like those polls that find that 20% of people dont know that earth revolves around the sun where any adult can participate- and hopefully the premise is evident to all of them.

If you say so.

I know its hard to believe that this many people are this frickin dumb. BTW, the reason they know about it, is its been reported in many different right wing circles. From FoxNews to crazy ass ************* who are popular with Trump supporters, on Twitter. Charlie Kirk, Jessie Watters, and Jack Posobiec among others, have popularized it among the right.

Taylor was going to endorse Biden at the Super Bowl, but Kelse's little tantrum on the sidelines meant that the timing wasn't right. The current plan is for her to begin dating Tiger Woods, and announce their engagement/endorsement of Biden after he wins the Masters this year. Failing that they have deals in the works with LeBron at the NBA Finals and Mike Trout at the World Series.

:boggled::boggled:

Though there are doubtless millions out there who could be convinced that some or all of that is true.

Lawrence O'Donnell knows his stuff:

It's about the money, donations that is, not about the nonsense questions reporters shout out at Biden as he walks by.

Biden will need a lot more money. 4x the amount ---or even 10x....but maybe there is no amount?

Hillary spent 2x what Trump did. Biden needs maybe 4x at this point. Or maybe the money is just wasted because he cant campaign like any semblance of a normal thinking person.

Biden should just bow out and let the rest of the future funds go to the
now anticipated, awaited, and unprecedented 'new person' who will get many 10's of millions in super pumped up excited free media- of every type worldwide- due to it being the best reality show twist EVER. Dont need candidate money to get hype for all that! (Recall that most people are not erudite scholars thinking deeply about presidential election permutations for long term benefits)

.......If not someone new, Trump wins. 100%

Get ready.
