2018 US Senate Elections Thread

So the R's should vote against him because he'll lose to the Dem, not because he's a complete loser. That fits.

Meanwhile, it's looking to me like Arizona may need to elect two senators this year.

And the odds are pretty good that California will have to have a special election for Senator a long time before 2024,given Feinstein's age.

Not if McCain makes it through May. Anyone appointed then would not have to stand for election in November.

GOP is concerned that damage form a Blankenship win might not be limited to West Virginia;that the Dems would make him the face of the GOP congressional candiates in 2018.
I have no doubts that Dems are making preliminary plans to do just that.

Braun ahead in Indiana. That wasn't expected at all one month ago.

Rokita got Trump's endorsement, right?

He and the other guy have been going after Braun for not being Trumpian enough. Rokita basically runs around with Trump's dick in his mouth.

Of polling. A single candidate doubles his votes and the next poll he drops to the previous values, another candidate does the opposite, but the percentage of undecided voters remains stubbornly constant. And the moon is made of cheese.

Yeah, Nate worded it a little more directly but much the same conclusion.

It’s possible that Trump’s tweet hurt Blankenship, but the Occam’s razor explanation is that the internal “polls” were ********, especially given that Trump’s tweet was pretty half-hearted and that his previous, much more forceful attempts to intervene in GOP primaries didn’t move the needle all that much.

The only trump fairy dust the Orangistas can claim is WV, and that wishy-washy tweet didn't support any candidate, just hedged his bets so that even if Blankenship won they could claim Trump Magic got 63% of the WV GOP to vote against him.

In every other race with a Trump sycophant, the orange candidate lost.

Lol

Looks like those plans have been cancelled.

Yeah, good night for your RINO enemies, right? All the brown nosers who Trump supported directly? Lost. The Trumpiest of the candidates, Blankenship? Lost.

And as to comic book characters running in 2018? There will be enough. We're talking about the New GOPTM. So, we don't get to pick on the kiddie-diddler and the convict. There are so many miscreants holding office or running for election as Republicans that it's a smorgasbord. McConnell pulled this particular pork chop out of the fire; there are others and I'm sure there will be more. Twenty-five years of cozying up to bible-thumping whackos, racists and bigots will do that.

With Blankenship out of the picture, it seems Manchin (D) is ahead of Morrisey (R), at least in the image department. Let's see if that translates into an advantage in votes.

In Indiana, Braun, a former Democratic and a millionaire, has made "the big Trump" and became the Republican candidate. A serious poll revealed Donnelly (D) was ahead Rokita and Messer in the public's preference, but forgot to measure him against Braun. Bizarre.

[In other state of things, I wonder if Trump will dare to undermine Cruz and make him lose the election. I would expect that from the Peronist-like movement Trump started]

The party establishment is waking up to the fact the nutjobs they thougth they could use and control are turning Frankenstein Monster on them....

The GOP dodged a bullet in West Virginia, but they will have plenty of nutjobs to contend with still.
A bit of a surprise who won in WV,and the guy himself is probably surprised. He was, as late as Sunday, pretty much sounding like he was resigned to losing.
Politico ran an article saying it was overall a bad night for crazy..in both parties.
The Dems pretty much showed pragmatism over ideological purity ,with most of the "progressive" challengers going down. The rejection of Dennis the Menace is an example of that.

Florida senate race, new poll from Florida Atlantic University:

Scott (R) : 44%
Nelson (D, incumbent) : 40%

Not to pay much attention to it because of a lot of problems. To name three, from a sample of 1,000, 190 didn't vote in 2016. The quotas for Democrats and Republicans are equal, set in 340 and almost equally distributed by gender. The presidential vote in 2016 is strongly skewed towards Trump.

By any reasonable adjustment to its results, the election continues to be a toss-up.

I suppose this gets you by? I’m loving it!

If Trump doesn’t abide by your wondering, does that take away from your Peronist narrative?

I still have the specimen under my microscope. So far, his behaviour as leader and yours as follower -who denies to be such- are book example of the rightist movements of the mid twentieth century of which Peronism is just an example well known to me.

What baffles me the most is that it was just needed Twitter, Facebook and a morality in its last death rattle for the United States to get there. It's not surprising from a country with so much religion, as everybody knows that religious people lack a moral compass, but how easily everything has dropped and gone to the dogs is amazing.

So far Trump is going straight into re-election, and the States into an unicato (sole rule, the preponderance of one political party)

From the polls available on senate races, today it looks to me the most probable outcome in November is the Democratic party losing one senator. Losing two or keeping the same number is less probable, and getting one more senator or losing three looks unlikely.
