2018 US Senate Elections Thread

Ah yes, people who don’t disavow their past, certainly because they were defeated must be marked for defeat themselves. How typically left.

No mention of Obama’s anti semitism friends or the Clintons segregationist hero’s.

I wasn't aware any of them were running. Thanks for providing news from history.

I don't think Bush (either one) is running for a seat either.

Along with justice and history. Those are on our side too. You just have bigotry and treason.

Having the military on our side would give you a hint that you are wrong. The left is despised. Not wanting to be labeled a leftists would also be a hint.

The military, at its highest levels is apolitical. General Schoomaker (former Army chief of staff), used to joke that he doesn't vote in presidential elections so he must be a bad American. I remember well what General Carter Hamm and then General Mattis (he hates being called Mad Dog) had to say about Generals who get on the cover of magazines and it wasn't nice. Saying you have the military on your side only shows that you have no idea of how we manage our instruments of national power. I'd give you a reading list but I'm sure you couldn't be bothered to inform yourself.

Just go on thinking what your whore hero tells you to think.

You’re in deep denial.

It is certainly supposed to be. To think otherwise is outright unAmerican.

ETA: Can we get back on the Senate now please?

But they also serve at the pleasure of the president so it would be pretty easy to pack the top with loyalists. It isn't like being a general makes one care about crimes against humanity after all, Kelly was instrumental in the family break ups to punish people who would seek asylum here. A true high point in american bigotry, possibly the highest since we sent all those jews on the St Louis back to the gas chambers.

That would be the same Rick Scott whose company defrauded the federal government out of hundreds of millions of dollars when he was running it, of course.
He belongs in prison, not the Senate.
I did just see that he's condemned Trump's child prisons. That may hurt him with the true believers.

Plus, he tried to kill Harry Potter. He had no choice...it was in his campaign platform.

(Sorry, joke is from The Colbert Report.)

So will signing a bill that allows gun restrictions. But true believers will probably still favor him over the Democrat.

May not be the best demographic for the GOP to count on. Might have been somewhat true in the past, but Trump has been burning those bridges in front of them for the past couple of years.
Right now, Trump has an approval rating of around 44% (as opposed to 40% who disapprove). So, he has stronger support from the military than he does among the general population. However, his approval rating is strongest among the enlisted; officers actually disapprove of him quite strongly.

Compare that to Romney, who actually out-polled Obama by 66-26%.

So yeah, Trump is harming support among the military. Not sure if that will be a long term change or a trend that will reverse itself if the Republicans ever get a decent leader. (Also don't know if that will translate into lower support in congressional elections.)

I dont expect them to vote D, but perhaps some will stay home.

Florida is a true swing state. Scott can't be in lock step with Trump to win. He's got to carve out some of the independent vote.

Maybe 100,000 Puerto Ricans have moved to Florida since Maria. I imagine on average that they may have a bone to pick with President Trump. The voters among them could tip a very tight race.

The only thin Scott has in his favor is his willingness to spend his own money on the campaign.

No. That's failing to have a healthy respect for your opponent. Scott has a lot going for him, having lead the state through The Pulse Night Club Shooting; Zika; Hurricanes Hermine and Irma and the Parkland Shooting. He signed gun legislation... in Florida, the state the NRA uses to test just how crazy they can be.

The Dems have to tie him to Trump in a big way (and there are ways to do that). The ACA rollback is a good start. You don't mess with healthcare in the state where white people go to die.
