Trump's promised ICE raids have begun

Kavanaugh went on to grossly mischaracterize the nature of the roving immigration patrols. Here’s his cheerful description of the interactions:

Importantly, reasonable suspicion means only that immigration officers may briefly stop the individual and inquire about immigration status. If the person is a US citizen or otherwise lawfully in the United States, that individual will be free to go after the brief encounter. Only if the person is illegally in the United States may the stop lead to further immigration proceedings.
Here’s how Judge Frimpong, who actually heard testimony from the plaintiffs, characterized it:

Agents and officers approach suddenly and in large numbers in military style or SWAT clothing, heavily armed with weapons displayed, masked, and with their vest displaying a generic "POLICE" patch (if any display at all). Agents typically position themselves around individuals, aggressively engage them, and/or shout commands, making it nearly impossible for individuals to decline to answer their questions. When individuals have tried to avoid an encounter with agents and officers, they have been followed and pushed to the ground, sometimes even beaten, and then taken away.

I bow to your expertise concerning dumbness.

As to it being "unbelievable," Homan has already admitted to profiling.
And the Supreme Court of Trumpistan says he can. What is unbelievable is the slavish devotion of maga-cultists and their dutiful apologetics for this bull ◊◊◊◊.

I know everyone is going to be shocked by this but apparently ICE is illegally detaining people from the Hyundai plant. Per The Guardian:

At least one of the Korean workers swept up in a huge immigration raid on a Hyundai Motor factory site in Georgia last week was living and working legally in the US, according to an internal federal government document obtained by the Guardian.

Officials then “mandated” that he agree to be removed from the US despite not having violated his visa.
....
The document says that immigration agents from Atlanta “determined that [redacted] entered into the United States in [redacted], with a valid B1/B2 visa and [redacted] was employed at HL-GA Battery Company LLC as a contractor from the South Korean company SFA. From statements made and queries in law enforcement databases, [redacted] has not violated his visa; however, the Atlanta Field Office Director has mandated [redacted] be presented as a Voluntary Departure. [Redacted] has accepted voluntary departure despite not violating his B1/B2 visa requirements.”
....
The internal file describes “an actual crime”, according to Charles Kuck, an immigration attorney based in Georgia

As has been implied in this thread it does appear that this stunt by ICE has threatened the investment from South Korea. I can't imagine forcing their nationals to capitulate to their demands isn't going to help much. I did get a big laugh out of Kristi Noem saying that the actions of ICE will actually encourage other countries to invest here. This administration is so ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ stupid.

I'm glad the US is still in a place where it's possible to do things like this. It'll encourage the resistance and bolster morale.
This attitude is going to get naive people killed. The US doesn't have France's tradition of give and take, between police and protesters. This is going to encourage ICE to go harder, and be more trigger happy, the next time.

You're giving

"The second amendment won't save you from the violence of the state,"

But also

"Woo! Slash those tires! You're winning!"

Energy.

Might there also be some media who shy away from criticism of Dear Leader out of fear of retaliation? Look what happened to the AP after they refused to rebrand the Gulf of Mexico.
100% and he’s threatened news outlets on multiple occasions

You expect Kent State, round 2?

The absolute horror continues.

Donna Brown, 58, who emigrated nearly 50 years ago, is being held by Trump’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement – known as ICE – and faces being sent back to Ireland...In July, Donna was arrested at customs in Chicago on her return from Ireland after a family funeral. She has now spent more than 30 days in jail in Kentucky as the US government moves to deport her,

Legal documents for her arrest say that ten years ago, Donna wrote a bad check for $25. However, she paid the money back and was given probation. But Mr Brown said the US government is now arguing that was a ‘crime of moral turpitude’. MSN from UK News article link

Brown broke the law. And what do we call people who break the law? Criminals!

MAGA!!!

They aren't working fast enough it seems.

Watters: If they don't have the paperwork, they don't belong here. I'm sick and tired of having to deal with all these specific individuals. That’s what we mean by mass deportation. They are all going out. They are not going out fast enough. They should be going out way faster.

Why is she fighting it? Get the hell out of here while you still can! Look at the way this ◊◊◊◊ hole of a country is headed.

"We live in a country where protesters get shot" is not the flex you seem to think it is.

The concerning part is theprestige doesn't even seem to be upset about it. The fact that protesters get shot should have Republicans up-in-arms. It's what this country was founded on, but it's shocking how fast the right-wing has accepted and condoned it. As long as it isn't them!

We're now seeing how it all falls apart in real-time. Once the high from deporting everyone settles down when "they" are all gone, then what? Then they need something new so they'll move on to, "Well just the trans people need to be imprisoned", and then "Well, just the gays. They aren't people anyway".

I literally see people saying that Transfolk aren't people. This country ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ sucks.

Scene: The briefing room at ICE. The captain is prepping
his men for today's Einsatzaktion.

Capt: Kay, you guys, Groghan, Blutz, Stinky, you fan out in fronta me and

Capt: Wait a sec. Gubb?
Gubb, still heaving his bulk upright: Yuh? Wut, boss?
Capt: You got tire guard agin today. You good with that?
Gubb: Aw. Uh. Tell me nother time, boss?
Capt (wearily): When we park the suvz, you get out n walk around

Capt: Aw right. Use yer boots. The hard-toe ones. I hope you membered ta

All laugh hoarsely at the Captain's little joke. Exeunt, singing their unit
anthem, "Horst Wessel Was a Hog-Eye Man."

Poor, poor Jesse Watters! I only have one teeny tiny question; in which capacity does he have to deal with those individuals? Do they employ these paperless individuals at Fox? Or does he perhaps employ them to watch his children, or clean his house, or tend his garden? How else would he have had so many interactions with them, that he has become tired of "dealing" with them?

Or is he a scret ICE agent?
