Trump's US Threat to Greenland (which belongs to Denmark)

Mette Frederiksen: Et uacceptabelt pres (DR.dk, Mar 25, 2025)
Mette Frederiksen: Unacceptable pressure
Mette Frederiksen is now attacking the USA in the context of the upcoming American visit to Greenland
- It is obviously not a visit about what Greenland needs or want.
-That's why I have to say that an unacceptable pressure is being put on Greenland and Denmark in this situation. And it's a pressure that we are going to resist, she says.

DR journalist in Greenland: This is what the government asked for
Múte B. Egede yesterday: - Greenland's government has said that they felt that they were alone in this diplomatic crisis.
- They felt that some allies were hiding and should come forward. So this is what Mette Frederiksen is doing now. I think it will be welcomed, he says.

Wants cooperation
Mette Frederiksen emphasizes that both Denmark and Greenland want to cooperate with the Americans.
- We are allied, we have had a defense agreement about Greenland since 11951. Nothing in Denmark or Greenland indicates that we don't want cooperation with the Americans.
- But when you pay a visit in this manner, and when Greenland's politicians say that they don't want this vist, then you can't interpret it as respectful, she says.

Cooperation was also what Danish politicians wanted with Hitler. It didn't really work out the way they'd hoped for.

Greenland's government rebukes Trump: You have not been invited
- Greenland's government did not invite anybody to visit, officially or privately.

I am not sure, but maybe the Greenlandic Quisling Jørgen Boassen invited Mrs. Vance and Mike Waltz.
Has he been set up by Trump to become the governor of Greenland? "People from Greenland are asking us to go there."

It would be awesome if the USA controlled Greenland. But this is absolutely not the way to do it and the only legal way to do it we simply cannot afford. It's basically just another stupid idea from President Tramp.

Orla Joelsen on X, Mar 24, 2025:
Demonstration against The second lady of the United States, planned in Sisimiut, Greenland
The demonstration, set to take place on Saturday, is organized by a group of local citizens.
A peaceful and quiet town, Sisimiut will soon be filled with residents dissatisfied with the upcoming U.S. visit.
A group of citizens in Sisimiut told Sermitsiaq that they are in the process of planning a silent demonstration on Saturday.
According to Per Nørgård, the intention is to send a clear message without shouting or loud protests:
“We will turn our backs when they drive by. This is our way of showing that we do not agree with their presence and approach. So we encourage as many people as possible to join and show their opposition,”
Source: Sermitsiaq, Greenlandic news paper.
Sisimiut has a population of 5,582. Nothing the U.S. Air Force can't handle ...

I wonder if any of Trump's "people from Greenland", whom he claims are asking the US to go there, exist.

Actually, no, I don't wonder. He just creates his personal reality by declaring it so, and has got too used to nobody around him saying no.

Why would it be 'awesome'?

They would be second class citizens of a territory. They currently have their own self governing state within the political domain of Denmark.
But Trump said it would make them rich. By comparison, imagine how wealthy indiginous Alaskans might be if they didn't have any gas and oil. It could be like that. What's not to like?

There is at least one. I don't know how much he has been paid to do so or expects to get out of it.

Trump says Greenland officials invited US delegation. Greenland says that's not true. (USA Today, Mar 25, 2025)

Of course they exist!!

Bob, Joey, and the other guy from the place with the stuff.

:)

We have the right to know EXACTLY which officials invited them and WHICH officials meet with them.
No, we don't.
A big strong Greenlander came up to me, tears in his eyes, and said, "Sir, I invite you to come to my igloo and see how horribly I have been treated by that nasty woman, Frederiksen." Big guy, strong guy. Did I mention that he had tears in his eyes, and thanked me for everything I had done for him and am about to do? "You are my retribution, Sir," he said.
