Trump's US Threat to Greenland (which belongs to Denmark)

According to my local newspaper, even the White House sees this visit as a problem, but only because the Greenlandic government has not formed yet, so there is nobody to browbeat negotiate with.

Taking “territorial interest” in Greenland

He's using the Putin playbook.

I think the SLOTUS video in post 375 came from the White House.

JD Vance: Denmark is not doing its job, and isn't being a good ally…if that means we need to take more territorial interest in Greenland that is what president trump is going to do. Because he doesn't care about what the Europeans scream at us…

"How are we going to solve that problem"? What problem. "Denmark is not being a good ally"? This is insane.

dFrom another Forum.
"My question, asking for a friend, is are you allowed to enter Greenland as a tourist accompanied by a large armed security force? "
A good question, but I don't know the answer.
Considering that they aren't even invited and the Greenlandic government doesn't want to have anything to do with them, I assume that it's not allowed.
That the government doesn't want to talk with them doesn't mean that the police won't interfere.

Múte Bourup Egede is the leader of Greenland's government

Orla Joelsen on X, Mar 24, 2025:
Múte: The International Community Must Step In
“The highly aggressive American pressure on Greenlandic society has now reached such a serious level that it cannot escalate further. Standing together in Greenland has not helped, speaking out has not helped, and diplomatic attempts at dialogue have been in vain. Now, the international community must respond,”
Where Are Our Allies?
Múte Bourup Egede believes that democratic nations, especially Greenland’s allies, are far too hesitant to declare and demonstrate their support for Greenland:
“Until recently, we could confidently rely on the Americans, who were our allies and friends, and with whom we enjoyed working closely. They showed respect for us as a society, and we built strong cooperative relationships that were meant to last for many years. But that time is over—we must acknowledge that. The new American leadership is completely indifferent to what we have previously stood together for. Now, their only goal is to take over our country right over our heads,” says Múte Bourup Egede.
He continues:
“Yes, Western allies used to stand together and support each other through thick and thin, but that has been turned upside down under the current U.S. president. And the fact that our other allies in the international community seem to be hiding in a corner, almost whispering their support for us, has no effect. If they do not loudly and clearly oppose how the U.S. is treating Greenland, the situation will escalate day by day, and American aggression will increase. We need our other allies to express their support for us clearly and unequivocally,” -Múte Bourup Egede tells Sermitsiaq.

USAID????
Trump's guy in Greenland, Jørgen Boassen, the one who was in charge of Don Jr.'s visit, asked for money for dog-sled race!

The USA pumps money into the transportation of dogs, sleds and drivers at Greenlandic dog-sled race
- When I visited the USA, I asked if they could help. We're talking about a lot of money, he says.
So Jørgen Boassen understands why the Americans come as guests and tourists to see what their expenses were used for.
- It's appropriate that they come as guests and tourists, he says.
He says that they have paid for all the transportation when dogs, sleds and drivers are transported to Sisimiut, which is where the race will take place.
In a letter to DR, the U.S. consulate in Nuuk confirms that the USA has sponsored the race through the consulate and that it has been subsidized via Air Greenland for the transportation of dogs, sleds and participants to and from ten towns and settlements in Greenland.
- We are still coordinating with Air Greenland to determine the final needs and determine the final amount of our sponsorship, the U.S. consulate in Nuuk writes.
The appeal from the U.S. government was that they would be listed among the officials sponsors of the race in return for the sponsorship.
Air Greenland has confirmed to DR that a bill, which should have been sent on to Kalaallit Nunaani Qimussertartut Kattuffiat, KNQK, in the context of the company's arrangement of transportation at the dog-sled race, has instead been sent to the U.S. consulate. This happened because the consulate contacted Air Greenland and asked them to send the bill to them.
However, the consulate still hasn't answered questions about how much money they have pumped into the dog-sled race.
Boassen also won't say how big the amount of money is, but he says that the race would not have happened without the U.S. subsidies.

Even though Mike Waltz and Usha Vance haven't arrived yet, two planes from the U.S. Air Force landed in Greenland yesterday, and they brought special vehicles, according to the Greenlandic police.

If any of our resident American skeptics have contacts to journalists, it would be interesting to have them investigate where exactly the money comes from: the Department of State? USAID? Pentagon? Elon Musk?
Is this one of those expenses that are absolutely essential for the national security of the USA? Has anybody asked DOGE about this?
Inquiring minds want to know!

Nobody believes the American explanation
- Not a single person here in Nuuk believes that this is nothing but an ordinary visit, that it's about a dog-sled race or whatever else has been said by the Americans, Lasse Lindegaard says.
