TN Republicans Voting to Expel 3 Democrats from State House of Representatives

I really literally don't understand this. How can people be this completely shameless?

Again, one can at least understand the out-and-out crooks, like Trump, that personally profit from this sort of thing. But how, HOW, can regular folks keep blindly supporting such brazen dishonesty?

One might have hoped to gain that insight from rightwingers on this forum. But no, won't happen. Otherwise incisive, skeptical, intelligent people magically get transformed into blind propagandists when it comes to politics, incapable of intellectual and moral coherence.

It's ******* amazing, to me. And ******* depressing. Like dudalb, I see no easy resolution to this, given there's so MANY of them, the cross-eyed enablers. It's an unending struggle, where one half of the polity keeps grappling, endlessly, with the other half. Not sure this will end well. In general I mean to say, not this specific and latest incident.
 
The state that gave us the Ku Klux Klan continues it fine traditions of treating N words like the Civil War never happened.

If nothing else, the optics of expelling the two Afro Americans but letting the white women stay ( and I hasten to add this was not her fault) should have made them hesistate. But I guess they wanted to send a message.

In this case, it would not be surprising at all that race was a factor. After all, these were TN Republicans not Democrats with a long history of support for and by Black Americans.

Agreed, but am still shocked that they were so damn blatent about it. If they had expelled all 3, it would have given them a little cover.
I just hope the people in Tennesee don't take this lying down. I still adovacate mass resingation by the Democrats. Not liek they can do any good in the legislature anyway.

TN is overwhelmingly GOP like most ex-Confederate states. None are Dem controlled. Coincidence? I think not.

No. They are very proud of themselves for doing this. This is them showing how if you “eff around you find out”. They are gleefully patting themselves on the back for punishing the ringleaders of a horrifying insurrection against the state. It’s very crucial they get rid of the these ni…., err obviously violent uprisers so they can get back to voting for a statue of Bully Brooks in a TN city and ignoring the child molesters in their midst.
 
Between expelling the two African Americans but not the white legislator, and the complete lack of process - I heard tonight on the news that one time in the past when that legislature expelled a member, there was a special committee to investigate the issue and it took a couple of months! - there's no denial of what a naked display of power and racism this is.

One legislator after the votes claimed that because the white female legislator did not carry a bullhorn but her two black colleagues did is the reason why she was not expelled.

I looked but there aren't any emojis for how horrible this is.
 
Not about this topic, but returning to wondering why the rest of the enablers stand for this sort of thing, just saw this thing about Trump blathering about Merchan and his wife being "Trump haters".

****. What's a ******* Trump hater?! Who says that? (Answer: Trump says that. And his dupes say that. Question is, why do the dupes say that, or stand for it?)

The right wing supporters who stand to profit from Republicans holding power, okay, cool, we know why you enable them. Those that are themselves racist, we know why you enable this sort of thing.

The rest, though? Why do THEY stand for ut?

Because if literally around half the polity actually holds these toxic ideas and beliefs and principles, then there's no way in hell the country won't be screwed over the next few years, no way in hell.
 
What does it mean when they say they're expelling someone?

I found this at AP but it doesn't really clear things up for me.

"The two expelled lawmakers may not be gone for long. County commissions in their districts get to pick replacements to serve until a special election can be scheduled, and they could opt to choose Jones and Pearson. The two also would be eligible to run in those races."

Expelled means they are no longer legislators - they're kicked out of the legislature - and would remain kicked out if and until the county commission appoints them as their own replacements and/or they win the special election.
