They didn't listen to me.

Honestly, a lot of the problems stem well before 2024.

Merrick Garland should have prosecuted Trump.

Joe Biden should have kneecapped Manchnin, Sinema, and anyone else posing as a Democrat trying to stop his agenda. Not figuratively, mind you. I literally mean strap them down and use an impact driver. "So, can I count on your vote for Build Back Better? Or...."

Pushed for more progressive policies. Do you think people are still afraid of Medicare For All? Fine, start with that and agree to lowering Medicare to 55 as the compromise.

Go after the companies hiring undocumented workers. I mean with the paramilitary ICE units. Lets see some rich, white folks get dragged from their homes in front of terrified children with automatic weapons pointed at them. Or their company board rooms. I'm willing to compromise.

Go after the companies ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ up the countries the undocumented immigrants are fleeing from.

Get harder on Israel. Don't be afraid to suspend US military aid like Reagan did.

Everytime a corporation reached a settlement or lost a judgement for unfair practices against customers or employees, make part of the deal their executives have to be paraded around Laffayette Park for reporters like recently defeated Roman adversaries being shown off to the people by a victiorius general.

Slap on some price controls on vital goods. Sure, people would scream "communism" for a week or so. they'd stop yelling when their grocery bills go down.

Expand the Supreme Court.

Nuke the filibuster. The time for negotiating is *before* the bill goes to a vote.

Stop shanking progressives.

Always have a real primary. As I have said before, politics has become a "strike while the iron is hot" affair. You need to find who is the current flavor, not whose turn it is.

You know that cap on insulin prices for Medicare and Medicaid recipients? Ya, that's popular. expand that.

Push for trade agreements that focus on labor and envrionmental protections.

STOP TRYING TO SOLVE EVERY GODDAMNED PROBLEM WITH "WHAT SOLUTION IS GOOD FOR BUSINESS?"!

Yes, some of that is cartoonishly theatrical, but in case you didn't notice, the crowds love a spectacle.

Yes, I know I'm crazy. That doesn't make me wrong.

Only one of your ideas, expanding Medicare to age 55, is realistic.

You would be surprised what becomes "realistic" when you put real fear into certain folks.

And I appreciate your honesty that we should not expect the Democratic "leadership" to stop shanking progressives.

NAFTA and other free trade agreements brought in cheaper goods, in exchange for millions of American jobs.

:(
Our corporate owners sold us out long before that. NAFTA I don't mind so much; it's at least benefiting our neighbors and allies, which is better for both of us. To your NAFTA objection, if Mexico has lucrative manufacturing work in their country, they are less likely to sneak into the States to find work, no? We get cheaper goods made by strengthening our neighbors, instead of Communists.

American corporations voluntarily wholesale sold us out by outsourcing to Chinese sweatshops years ago. It wasn't exactly in the days of hoary antiquity that every piece of clothing and tool I owned had Made in USA stamped on them. Now it's damn near impossible.

Nike, DeWalt, Carhartt, Ray Ban, you name it. Each one stuck a middle finger in the face of their American workers to have their products made overseas, then kept raising the prices. Corporate America is the enemy.

ETA: in the case of Ray Ban, it was a different kind of corporate leverage by Luxottica, but in the Internet age, companies like Ray Ban and Oakley could have still thrived with a different marketing approach. In fact, if they stuck to their principles, the "Sunglass Hut" threat would have backfired, and weakened Sunglass Hut, who wouldn't be able to provide the cool shades that people actually want anymore. /Rant.

Progressive lost in Democrat primaries all over the place. Clearly they are too extreme.

Hard agree with Disbelief here. Even the policies the Dems have/are working on that could easily be popular were not emphasised or communicated well. The positive, helpful things they've got done during this administration weren't either. Mentions maybe. Nothing that would stick.

Maybe they thought showing off good peanuts would make people think that peanuts is all they have but it's better than running on plans that sound fake as soundbites. There was more there but you had to go find it for yourself; they just didn't try very hard to get the substance accross in any of the big popular moments where more people were paying attention. Like, sure, Americans don't want you to go full Ross Perot either, but I think they want to see a LITTLE bit of that.

Ya, because AIPAC and other big money groups poured money in and the the "leadership" decided to break their own rules and pick winners in primaries...again. Look at NY-17. AIPAC and Republican donors poured millions into a race to silence a black voice and favor a 70-year-old who had held every legislative seat in NY State and currently held an executive position to take a demotion. Seriouisly, Latimer's predessors didn't turn around and run to be a freshman representiative. They ran for governor and Senator. that whole deal stunk. And we won't go into Latimer being crooked or using dog whistles in the race.

But, Democrats in NY who campaigned with people like AOC actually outperformed HArris. Of the 7 contested seats in NY, Democrats won 6. the only loser was Mondaire Jones in NY-17, who campaigned as a progressive in 2020 but was compeltely ignroant of their actual policies. When he got chased from his seat by "moderate" Democrat Sena Partick Maloney (who then lost the seat in the general), he went hard right and worked against the progressives, including attacking Jamaal Bowman. He had no progressive support, got dropped by the moderates, and lost what used to be a safe blue district by 15 points.

Even Jay Jacobs got with the program this time around. Catch up.

Jamaal Bowman was totally out of touch with his actual constituants. Which is why he campaigned in the South Bronx rather than in his actual district!! As far as AIPAC they didn't force anyone's hand on primary day.

George Latimer is a 70-year-old former Republican who attacks anything close to left of center policies and appointed his side piece to a 6 figure county job in New Rochelle to his side piece.

Ya, millions of dollars and Hakeem Jeffries and Hillary campainging in the primaries didn't have any influence.

My friend is still waiting to get an answer to their question: What does Agent M do and how much does it pay?

ETA: As far as my opinion is concerned, I personally stopped answering questions about that or give my opinion about anything anymore (unless it's about missing persons or books), because I'm a reasonable republican and voted for Harris, but some jerks on this forum keep blaming me (or reasonable republicans like me) for this disastrous election.

You didn't include an option for running better candidates (Joe wasn't a better candidate).

Seriously, Biden was not capable anymore, and nobody likes Harris. She had to drop out before the first vote during the 2020 primary, and nobody voted for her to be the Dem candidate this time either. And she wasn't good at campaigning. Terribly in interviews, couldn't connect to people. She was a really lousy candidate. Her only real attraction was that she wasn't Trump, and as we saw, that wasn't enough.

She also should have picked Shapiro as her running mate. Walz wasn't helpful.

Bowman's dug his own grave. He was running for the wrong district.

imo there are two ways for american manufacturers to be competitive with china, it was either efficiency through automation or tariffs. i preferred the automation, but looks like we're running with the tariffs. terrible call. i think automation in manufacturing is incredibly misunderstood by most people.

anyway, where did they go wrong? failure to hold the traitorous elements of the gop responsible for their crimes. everything after that matters a lot less.
