VP Picks 2012

Based on the phenomenal success of his recent TV advertising and rally, how do we discount H. "P.M." Cain?

How do we discount him? How about make an offer of a free soda if you take him off our hands? Breadsticks too. Look, I'll throw in a Big Chocolate Chip Cookie -- if you act now.

Wow. Epic. Follow the link in the above post to read all about it: Jeb Bush: I'd Consider Vice Presidency.

I can see a little balloon over Jeb's head from here:

If we win, I'm on the inside and can influence the Romney The Weathervane blows in the wind. Plus I'm guaranteed the nod in '20. If Romney loses, I've established my chops nationally and am a shoo-in in '16.

If it were up to me it would be
John Huntsman (though he's not totally anti-science)
Fred Karger (though he's both gay and jewish)

4 or 5 years ago, I would have thought Jindal would be the GOP candidate.
Then again, in 2000 I thought Elizabeth Dole had a chance, as it would be huge for the GOP to have the first Female President, but instead they decided to go the "Women who use birth control are sluts that should be required to film their sex for me" route.

Or first in line for Pres 2016 after Obama's next 4 years.

I still think Rubio or Huckabee would be a better choice for vp 2012.

Yeah, I don't like Jeb partly for that reason. Rubio would offer a chance to carry FL which as always will be a biggie.

So, I'm wondering: If it's Romney/Bush, how much does Obama (or Biden, as proxy) explicitly go after Romney for the Jeb connection to the Bush Legacy?

I'd suspect they'll attack in order
Mormonism
Too Rich
BDS
Dog on car
who knows what else

While some Obama SuperPACs might mention Mormonism, the official campaign won't go anywhere near it. I'd guess Obama will push:

Out-of-touch
Economic policies
No foreign policy chops

with other stuff (environment, gays, etc.) playing minor roles.

This is something I didn't see with Biden's pick as VP.

If Obama wins again, could Biden be the candidate in 2016? Not really.

I saw this with Clinton and Gore.

I didn't see it with Bush and Cheney.

I think Mittens needs to pick someone who can run in 2016 if they loose and/or run after Mitt's 8 years are up (if he gets that far.)

I can't believe I forgot to include Sen. John Thune (SD). He's in the news today saying he'd like to break last year's budget deal and force a government shutdown crisis just before the election. It'd be excellent if he were to carry out this kamikaze mission from within the Romney campaign.

Hey, hgc, ever think about Brewer. I think the suggestion is just too idiotic to consider and wouldn't add her to the list if I was the majordomo but I thought you ought to be aware in case you had not seen the article.

Wow. No, I hadn't. It is nuts.

First of all, Romney needs to do some etch-a-sketching on immigration policy, and having the stink of Brewer and SB 1070 on him ain't the way to do it.

Secondly, have you listened to Brewer talk? I don't know how else to put this, but she's a slow talker, and sounds kind of ... dull, iykwim. I'm not saying she is cognitively deficient, but just that I can't listen to that somnolent drone without wanting to climb the walls.

Total non-starter.
