Trump's US Threat to Greenland (which belongs to Denmark)

In other news (DR.dk, Mar 29, 2025):

Store demonstrationer flere steder i Danmark
Protests at the U.S. embassy in Copenhagen and in other Danish cities today. The one in Copenhagen is much smaller than what we've seen from Greenland.

'Det er langt fra alle grønlændere, der går op i, hvad J.D. Vance siger'
'Far from all Greenlanders are interested in what JD Vance says'
In Sisimiut, they are looking forward to the dogsled race. 40 dogsled teams will be participating today.
I wonder if any American networks will be there to report about the event sponsored by the USA.
A short video clip of the huskies taking a nap in the snow before the race.

OK guys, we’ve had a good run but we know when we’re beaten. We held onto the title for 4 years, 4 months, and 20 days, but JD Vance & the Pituffik USAF base are now worthy holders of the saddest, most pathetic, cringiest press conference of all time.

Vice President JD Vance
@VP

Denmark's leadership has failed the people of Greenland, and their bullying tactics won't change that.

Investment in Greenland's security is in America's best interest, and it will continue under President Trump.

Denmark's leadership is bullying?!

The sofa king must have gotten into elonia's stash.

Rep. Wesley Hunt: "The people of Greenland … Do you want to be a part of the greatest country of the world, or do you want to be a part of the failed leadership from Denmark?"

At one of the protests in Denmark today:
'Vi synes ikke om, at Trump prøver at overtage Grønland. Det kan han ikke' (DR.dk, Mar 29, 2025 - 15:55 CET)
- Modsat amerikanerne går jeg ind for dialog, diplomati og fællesskab og prøver at bygge de relationer, der er mellem Danmark og Grønland, stærkere. Jeg tror, der er en anden vej end trusler.
'We don't like Trump's attempt to annex Greenland. He can't do that'
Unlike the Americans, I advocate dialogue, diplomacy and community and try to strengthen the relationship between Denmark and Greenland. I think there are other ways than threats.

I suspect if put to a referendum, Greenland will reject annexation by at least 80%.
Considerably more than 80%:
New opinion poll shows 85% of Greenlanders do not want to join US (TheGuardian, Jan 28, 2025)
The percentage is probably close to 100% at this point, thanks to the U.S. threats from Trump, Vance, Hegseth, Waltz etc.
Before the MAGA men & wives started their 'charm offensive', many Greenlanders were open to more cooperation with the USA. That ship has sailed ...

Trump understands none of those things.

Part of me hopes Trump does try a military invasion, so that the generals can arrest his ass. Johnson would probably make an ok POTUS till 2028.

I know that you have all been anxiously awaiting the results. After all, this is what the whole thing was about!
And the winner is .... Henrik Jensen, Ilulissat! (KNR.gl, Mar 29, 2025)

The winner of what?, you may well ask. And who the hell is Henrik Jensen?
I don't know the guy, but in the photo I think he looks a bit like Enrique Tarrio, but that is probably just because of the sunglasses.
Henrik won Avannaata Qimussersua, i.e. the dogsled race!

Annual dog-sled race held in Greenland, in wake of US-Danish diplomatic spat (AzPost on YouTube, Mar 29, 2025 - 2:24 min.)
Greenland's most prestigious dog-sled race, which is also the official national championship for dog-sled drivers, was held in Sisimut, in south-west Greenland on Saturday (March 29).
The race, which takes place in different towns in Greenland each year, came to world-wide attention last week when it was announced that a United States delegation, led by Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, would attend the race.
The visit was later called off amid local protests.
This year, the 37 dog-sled drivers, or mushers, and their almost 450 dogs raced a 40-kilometre-long route with several demanding sections along the way.
The start and finish were located on a lake just outside Sisimiut, which is the second-largest town in Greenland, and halfway through the race, the sleds reached an altitude of about 500 metres.

Wouldn't it be Vance, Peter Thiel's guy? Or did the generals arrest him, too?
What about Barron after Trump's coronation?
And which number is Musk in the line of succession?
I watched Designated Survivor, but I no longer remember how Kiefer Sutherland managed to become king.

They would have to arrest Vance too.
