Trump's Second Term

Adding some local context here. The Windsor-Detroit Corridor is an extremely busy trade route with the bottleneck being that only the ambassador bridge connects them across the Detroit river. (There is a tunnel but its for car traffic only). The Gordie Howe bridge project was started about 10 years ago to create a bypass that would ease the choke point.

The $6B project was ENTIRELY funded by Canada and contrary to the orange moron did use significant US steel and US workers in its construction.

Here is what is really going on... The family that owns the ambassador bridge has been trying to tie up the project in court for years, arguing that they have sole right to collect tolls to cross the river and that the new bridge infringes on that right. They also happen to be big trump supporters and have been appealing for him to stop the bridge. So just another routine case of cash'n'carry government.

After the bridge bit...I got nothing.

I do think its hilarious that his knowledge of Canada is so limited that the only threat he can think of revolves around hockey.
Thanks for this. I had heard about the shenanigans over the bridge (maybe an episode of 99 p.i.?) but couldn't remember the story.

I’ve been watching the West Wing for the first time, partly because the real, current White House is so depressing.

There is more honour and dignity in one episode of that fictional series than in the White House for the past year. When the real WH has become synonymous with lies, gaslighting and insults, and displays no inspiration or hope, the US has a lot of recovering to do.

Is Laura Loomer really this stupid, or does she just think her followers are?

It’s kind of ironic how Bad Bunny was dancing on an electrical post at the Super Bowl halftime show. Puerto Rico isn’t exactly known for having reliable electricity. He could have highlighted the electrical grid crisis in PR and done some good with his platform, but he chose degeneracy!

Well, he's probably heard that Canadian's are considered 'nice' people, polite and helpful, but frankly with the time he can have left to live no-one's going to be able to explain what those words mean to him.

It’s kind of ironic how Bad Bunny was singing in Spanish at the Super Bowl halftime show. Spanish-speaking US citizens aren't exactly known for being treated respectfully these days. He could have promoted PR culture in the US and done some good with his platform, but he chose... oh, wait. Anyway, thank heavens we didn't watch it, and watched some other guy who sings about wanting to bang teenagers instead.

Greer: "The thing to keep in mind with Canada is this is a country that's 75% dependent on the United States for its gross domestic product ... it can't be a situation where the Canadians have an antagonistic relationship"

The thing to keep in mind is it's not Canada doing the antagonising, it's the Antagonist In Chief.

Yelling lies about your neighbour and then demanding they give you stuff to placate you is a ◊◊◊◊'s trick.

The world is watching that orange ◊◊◊◊ being a ◊◊◊◊ and nobody is in the slightest doubt this matter is simply Trump being a ◊◊◊◊ again.

"Is it Tuesday? Oh, time to be a ◊◊◊◊ again. It hardly seems like yesterday. Oh, it was yesterday? Okay."

America is reborn. Less than two years ago we had a basket case at the helm and a blithering idiot a heartbeat away from the nuclear button. Now we have a man of peace reshaping an “America First” world with quiet power

there's been alternative super bowl shows before. none of them felt so forced tho
I didn't watch either, as usual, but suspect this is the first one with significant presidential content.
Gutfeld: It’s seems like kind of a big deal considering that twice as many are in the United States as in Puerto Rico. If the culture is so amazing, why are you coming here?

Nothing related to the way people like you treat the territory. Shut up and eat your paper towels!

Well first of all, according to google, only around 18-20% of the US population speaks spanish. That means roughly 4/5ths of the audience did not know what he was singing
Yeah, so what?
Ummm... did you read the rest of my post or did you stop at that point?

I explained exactly why it was relevant that 4/5s of the potential audience could not speak spanish... because they consider lyrics important to the musical experience, because it means that any 'messaging' provided by his songs get lost for most viewers.

Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on Trump's bonkers US-Canada bridge tantrum: "There's a valid concern on the part of the president that this bridge was allowed to be built, they didn't necessarily use American content. There's a question as to the proceeds of tolls."
It's not a valid concern when it's not true they didn't use US materials, so why are you even raising this as a concern after all these years?
The question of proceeds of tolls isn't a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ surprise. Canada paid for the entire thing, right? Right? And?

The only question over tolls is the question of how much Trump is upset that his donors are upset that their monopoly on tolls is going to end with the introduction of competition. What's your 'valid concern' about how evil competition is? It's really bad, right? Competition is basically a communist plot, right? Traffic congestion caused by a restrictive monopoly is what freedom-loving peoples want.
